    Hello to the Co8 community...

I have so many questions about the game, but i want to start about this one...
Did anyone ever think about sleeping NPC on beds?
Uhmm... I don't know how the script works or about modding...
and i know that it will only complicate things in the game... but...
How about we use beds for them...
I mean that they actually use their beds... (like sleeping on their comfortable looking beds...
well for me... it's kinda weird seeing NPC close to their bed... and just stand beside them and pretend to be sleeping... [just like Prince Thrommel... "i know that he is sleeping" well.. he is the Sleeping Man when i found him in the dungeons..] ... and also Jakk "The Leather Worker" and his family...)
maybe if you guys use the sleep script:confused: or (the drunk state when losing on the "drink on the welcome wench quest") or when dying...

Ted put a lot of effort into trying to figure out how to get characters to lie down and found that it basically can't be done.

Its a pain. The guards of the Inner Bailey in the Keep currently lie on their beds at night (I'll see if I can get a screenshot of that at some point) but then they just stand straight up again. The problem is two-fold:

    - characters set to be prone tend to not stay that way: they automatically stand back up, since the engine only really ever sees this as a consequence of combat (where-in you want to get back on your feet asap). There are some parameters in the prone command but I have not had much luck with them.

    - The game is just not designed for it, really.

I am still trying things for the fun of it, but I don't believe you are ever going to see a moment where all the NPCs of Hommlet go to bed at night.

The 'drunk state' is a good idea btw - beat the character down to negative non-lethal HP - but not that practical. The 'sleep' flag won't actually do anything - it records the condition of the NPC, it doesn't cause the condition - but again its a good idea.

Games like the Witcher have the sleep, get in and out of bed/chair animation. But, it's a 3D game and has really intense animation scripting. Toee is a 2D game and the game engine doesn't support that kind of animation. You need professional animation scripting skills to do stuff like that. Pays good money if you got the skills.

Aren't the character models made from 3D meshes? I mean, I've noticed a lot of clipping issues in the game, and it would be silly if the developers didn't fix them beforehand when creating the 2D sprites.

:( well... i just wish to see them sleeping...

:nerd: so... how about trying the non-lethal state then?

    :thumbsdow

okay... (so... who are good in animation scripting... here in co8?)

uhmmm.. the idea of NPC sleeping at their beds...
maybe there are things can be done... like:
assassination (yeah!... for the bad party.... then use the "Coup de Grace" feat...
    haha... an instant death...)
well there are others but i can't think of it right now...

The game has day/night transfer and I wonder if a auto-cast of tasha's hideous laughter could be timed and set with a extended duration. Placing the npc on the bed would be trickey. Would be neat, but sounds like an awful lot of scripting if it will work at all.

Because if you attack a room full of folks (such as a barracks) and everyone is already artificially beaten down to 0hp, then they won't wake up.

Its worse if you beat them down to -0 hp lethal damage - if you go into combat on the map, then at the end, they automatically die.

:eek:mg: oh my... beating them then dies....
    --------------------------------------------------
..... (it's a pain...) a lot of analysis and thinking....
but anyways... thank you... at least now i know that modding is hard...(complicated?)
i better start taking up computer courses just for this one...

For the record, I tried a few new things with this and they still didn't work. Also I took some screenshots of the Inner Fortress Barracks from KotB to show the guards lying in bed, then getting straight up again, but they came out so dark its not worth cropping and posting them.

The barracks gets dark at night

You could try gamma correction in XnView.

So Betram's joined the Keep's guards, eh?

Is there a "Don't ask. Don't tell" policy for the forces there, Ted? :poke:

The screenshot is in the bin, since it was too dark to show anything (I blame jpg compression).

And the idea didn't work anyway.
