Just a quick strategy question? when bargaining with Lareth for his life can I make him A NPC find his secret hideout then "take him down" so I have the broken tower with his henchmen on my map or is there an alternative to finding that tower?
yeah, you can get to that map from a couple of different places, the way you're talking about is the easiest way tho.
you can get to the tower by going to the temple, then going to the north of the screen. that door leads to the tower. you could go the long way, down to the 3rd level of the temple, (past the area where you see your first hill giant but before the willow wisps). the hall on the west of the screen. find the passage, go to the end, come up hte the first passage you come to, and your in the tower. the best way is the temple because then you can kill Lareth and take his stuff. Does the assassin encounter still exist with version 5? I sold his armor and nothing ever happened.
Sell Lareth's boots to the traders Rannos/Gremag and that will get you the asassins encounter after 24 hrs. Don't sell anything else to them, they are a rip-off. Sell the rest of his stuff to the jeweller and blacksmith for the best prices.
Are you sure anything else works? I've never sell the armor nor the boots or the ring, i've always keeped them for mi fighter...i just sell the gold necklace (in fact, don't know what happens if i just take the necklace as a bribe, let Lareth live and sell it...)
I sold Lareth's necklace and boots after Lareth ran away, so I never actually killed him and I still had the assassin come after me. So it would seem you don't have to kill him to trigger the assassin.
Sachmo "I sold Lareth's necklace and boots after Lareth ran away, so I never actually killed him and I still had the assassin come after me. So it would seem you don't have to kill him to trigger the assassin." Yes, i supposed so..it has sense...and what about Lareth? Did you find him in other place? It would kinda cool that it appears with the assassin... Old Book "Selling just the boots to the Traders works fine; I've done it many, many times." Yeah, me too along with the necklace (but i prefer to keep the boots, as the normal plate boots are so white that look more like socks :aaaa: )
all you have to do is sell either lareths necklace or boots to the traders (and you can just make him give you his necklace) it doesn't matter how you get them but once you sell thing you'l be in for a random ecounter of the stabie kind.
No I still haven't managed to find Lareth again. I've read where he is meant to be held, but I have never been able to trigger it.
Funny, i used to keep all his things, thinking that surely would serve for something (a necklace with name and no habilities looked suspicious), but the by 9º or 10º time i played, get tired and sell them; the funny was that i do that almost about to the end of the game, so the characters hwere all at 10 or 13 level, so i choose the option of intimidate (something like "dude, we kill your boss, the troops, the spiders and everything else...and you're going to try alone?) and the assasin says "uh..well you're right. bye!"and that was all in my first encounter with him...:anger:
I always sell the boots to the traders because they aren't worth much anyway. But I keep the necklace for later when my Appraise skill is high enough to get very good money for it at the Jeweler.
The jeweler pays good gp for the necklace and rings. You might want to keep the magic one. The breastplate is AC6, so it's good to boost the AC of your lead fighter.
