I just bought this game and so far I am enjoying it. I have installed patch 1 and 2 and Moebius's temple patch. My questions are: 1) I have a ranger(3)/rogue(3) with two weapon fighting. If he runs up to attack someone, he only attacks with his main sword. If he is standing next to someone, he will attack with both swords. Is this the way it is supposed to be or is it a bug? 2) The madam of the brothel gave me a quest to get rid of Mickey. I intimidated Mickey and he ran away. I went back and told the madam that I got rid of Mickey, but the quest in the log book does not show it is completed. Is there something else I need to do? 3) I gave my wizard the Craft Weapons and Armor feat. Is it worth the experience loss to craft things? I don't want my wizard to be underleveled. 4) Is there a bug with ranged weapons? I have a ranger(6) with 20 Dexterity and he barely hits anything with his bow. He misses at least 75% of the time.
1. Doesn't sound like a bug. This should be how the game works - certain actions take longer to do than others. 2. Install Livonya's mod. The mod fixes this bug. Otherwise I'm afraid you'll just have to ignore it. 3. Yes. 4. The random number generator can be a little flaky. Put it down to bad luck, and make sure that you have the archery feats that will make it easier to hit opponents.
That's the way it's supposed to work. You can only make multiple attacks if you don't move or only take a 5' step. In general, yes, crafting magical weapons and armor is worth it. Are you firing into melee (firing at an opponent who is next to one of your characters) and/or firing through people/objects that aren't the target. Both of these apply a -4 penalty to your ranged attacks and are cumulative. You can remove the former penalty with the feat Precise Shot. For the latter you just have to make sure nothing is in the way of what you're shooting at.
1) Yep, that's the way it's supposed to be. If you have to move more than a five-foot step to attack, you only get one standard attack with your primary weapon. 2) The brothel quests are buggy. Troika disabled the brothel in the original release of the game. Co8 restored it, but didn't fix any of the bugs. I believe Liv has fixed them (or gone a long way towards fixing them) with her mod. I have never had the brothel quest involving Mickey show as completed without Liv's mod. 3) It all depends on whether or not you wish to only stick with the magic arms and armor you can find in the game. I won't give you any spoilers as to what you will find, but most it seems that most people here craft. If you have more than one character with the feat (a wizard and a cleric or druid perhaps) you can spread the xp cost between them. Unless you are crafting a ton of items to sell, your wizard should still easily make tenth level. 4) To be effective with ranged weapons you need to have the Precise Shot and Point Blank Shot feats. Otherwise, you take huge penalties when trying to use ranged weapons on targets engaged in melee combat.
4. could just be bad luck, I had two identical fighters, same stats feats etc, the only difference was the hair colour, on always hit the other always mised.
What they said. To see if u r hitting stuff, click on the rolls tab on the side and check your rolls, see what bonuses/penalties are applied. The -4 to melee shows up easily. To see the -4 for cover thing, compare your attack rolls to someone standing right next to the moster attacking with a melee weapon (your fighter or someone). See what the AC of the moster he is attacking is. If your ranger is attacking the same monster but their AC is suddenly 4 points higher, he is firing over someone and incurring the penalty. These are the 3.5 rules for missile weapons. Frankly i think they are flawed. Cujo what IS your obsession with hair????
