I was looking through the Craft Wonderous Items feat and noticed the ioun stones...I guess one of you guys added this because I don't remember them being in the list at all last time I played the game (which was prior to ANY patches...back when haste didn't provide extra attacks!) They look cool and all but they have no descriptions, which makes me wary of building one. Another item that does this is the cloak of arachnida...no description there either. Can someone explain what these items do? Or at least point me to where I can find such info? Sorry for being such a newb
The stones... ...resemble gems, and they give a boost to stats, attributes, or have other magical properties. They are supposed to orbit one's head, but this game failed to duplicate that effect. The cloak grants one certain attributes common to spiders.
Well I don't know what it does in a computer game, but what C of A does in proper ad&d is: grants spider climb (couldn't be implemented in ToEE); immunity to entrapment of web spells or webs of any sort; move in webs at half normal speed; once per day the wearer can cast web; and +2 luck bonus on fort saves vs poison from spiders. All in all, I wouldn't really bother making it, unless there's plenty of spiders in a mod out there. Cos the movement you negate with there being at least two rings of freedom of movement, and why cast web when you have a wizard or sorcerer cast it ? IMHO, a pointless craft wonderous item for a computer rpg, if you were playing proper ad&d i could see a point to it and making it.
I'll made some entry for the description mes. Anyway, there is one stone that gives +1 to AC like a magic ring, the others a +2 to one stat, not cumulative with belts and stuff, but, for example, you may give gaunlets of mighty fist +5 and necklace of wisdom +6 to a monk, so you may create a magic stone to give him +2 to DEX or CON. it is a small bonus, but you'll feel it. There are other magic stones but they are not included in ToEE
