Hello, I am playing through TOEE - Circle of Eight Mod Pack 5.6.0 Beta (Aug 30, 2009) for the first time. No other mods. So far the game has been great but I have one weird problem. When I encounter Trolls in random encounters I am unable to kill them. I can hack them down to the ground but they will not die. I encountered two trolls in the Deklo Grove and every time I re-visit the grove I find these same two trolls that are now healed. Here's the info when I mouse over the Troll bodies: Troll 1 Unscathed Damage (273) Unconscious Paralyzed Troll 2 Hurt Damage 7 (195) Prone Unconscious Paralyzed Flatfooted Is this a known bug? Is it possible to kill these Trolls? What does the blue text in brackets represent? Thanks so much. Zak
It's not a bug. Trolls are very hard to kill because the regenerate damage at 5 hit points per round. The blue numbers are the current non-lethal damage it has on it. The number before the brackets is lethal damage it has. All you have to do to kill the trolls is when you get them down, right click the screen to get the radial menu and on the left hand side under offense I believe, choose Coup De Gras, which is a finishing killing move, and target the troll. This will kill them but you can also kill them with lethal damage, like spell damage. Fireballs work real well to kill them. All characters have the ability to coup de gras.
Just to be specific - trolls can be burnt with fire or acid, but in ToEE they treat other sorts of damage as 'non-lethal' (ie they regenerate from it). So either take them down fully with fire and acid effects - I recommend scribing 200 acid splash scrolls - or just beat them down as normal and a quick CdG.
I sometime let all the trolls in the temple live and happily contemplate what sort of society they will form.
I don't know but I've often leveled up after a fight ended with some trolls knocked out on the grown. apply coupe de gras and bingo next level.
