Well, under the old frontend, the freeze / jerkstop phenomena severely worsened while the party was at 8th level. The game became unplayable because the bug became constant on the Homlett map. The party was constantly frozen or could move only a few steps before the move command terminated. This phenomenom was worse around frozen NPC's, and strangely, the signpost.

To see if it would duplicate with the new frontend, I applied it to the the same build and started a new game. The freeze / jerkstop bug hasn't manifested yet, as my party is still at 3rd, not 4th level.

I've rediscovered that NPC's selling the goods they are given still irks as much as it did in the old days. Though not as much, I admit, as having to disarm yourself in the KotB. I'm sure the updates will eventually balance out these kinds of issues.

The only new phenomenom I seen so far is the invisible brigand leader. You can tell where he is by the red aura of his Barbarian Rage. After he's dead, his body is unfindable. That's a new one!

Since this was the new frontend applied to an already-flawed build, I doubt any action would be necessary. More on this as it develops.

Since this is (hopefully) a short-lived thread, I'll ask this question here:

How are the Toffex mods different from the old Toffee mods?

Will the new front end rescind Humble NPC's on them, too? :gotmyatte

For the Toffee-X mods you can choose to enable or disable Humble NPCs as an option pretty much like you did in the old ToEE Front-End - it's exactly the same. The functionality of the new TFE-X ready mods is the same as that of the ones that were used with the previous front-end, except that they are prepackaged for use with the new TFE-X and are native TFE-X modules right off the bat (which means that TFE-X doesn't use the "Converted ToEEFE Module" compatibility mode for them, which might theoretically give you some 3-5% speed boost on module activation if your PC is slower). Oh, and as a free bonus you get a nice custom picture displayed for the module in ToEE Front-End X when you choose it. :)

We need you to memorize those instructions verbatim, GA, so you can help everybody when the mod is released. ;)

Seriously, I can either put that support stuff up now or wait until after release and leave everybody floundering around on what to do. Best this way.

And yes I am a tease.

    Yep! Instructions first.

And yes I will learn them, though not verbatim, because many will download without understanding how to install, and will post in the middle of the night, and I will be there to confuse them more.

The new instructions look the same as the old instructions, except for the cmf and the cmf patches. (for a while)

    Thanks, you tease!

Under the present regime (no Humble NPC's option) is there some way to change Elmo's armor?

Present regime? If you mean 5.5, Humble NPCs will remain a selectable option in TFE-X.

If you mean 5.0.x, without Humble NPCs enabled, I don't think you can control NPC inventory other than to choose which armor they wear. You can give them as many suits of armor as you want, but they'll quickly become overburdened. They should sell any armor they're not wearing the moment you talk to a trader, however.

The present regime is 5.0.6 with TFE-X applied. 5.5.0 isn't available quite yet. Unless there's something something you're not telling us. :(

I have 5.0.0/5.0.6 with the humble NPC's selected, then TFE-X applied over that. There are no options available at startup, and humble NPC's does not function. I added one of the TFE-X-ready mods, and no options are available at startup. :twitch:

    Oh I gotcha, sorry.

In TFE-X, go to the Options drop down menu and check Humble NPCs.

@ GuardianAngel82: Hmm... I'm not sure what you're talking about. It's strange that Humble NPCs don't function because that option is supposed to function AFAIK. It's pretty weird if it doesn't do that for you. What do you mean by "no options are available at startup"? What options and at startup of what? TFE-X has all the options in the "Options" menu (next to "File" and everything) - are those options enabled for you? Can you enable or disable them? If you enable Humble NPCs there, does it function for you? I'm at a loss. Can you please do the following:

    1. Run TFE-X.
    2. Navigate to "Options" and make sure "Humble NPCs" is checked. If it's unchecked, click on it and then see if it's checked.
    3. Once you're sure it's checked, run the game. Run around and see if Humble NPCs works for you (maybe you'll need to start a new game for that, I'm not sure).
    4. If it still doesn't work for you, quit the game (DON'T launch the front-end again though) and then post the TFE-X.log file from your ToEE root folder here so I can take a look.

Found "Options". It's not in the row of 8 buttons across the middle. It's up on the tool bar up at the top. I THOUGHT the dumping of the max hp, humble NPC's, etc, was kind of unilateral. Well, at least I had the opportunity of playing an old style ToEE game for 6 levels. (Shudders) :dizzy:

I'll tell you if the options can activate in the middle of a game.

Thanks for telling me to look in front of my nose.

Cool :) Also, you can use "Save Options" in order to save your option configuration so that you don't have to set the options up every time.

Been there, done that. But, thanks for the remind.

Oops! Forgot to say that you have to start a new game for humble NPC's, at least. ;)
