Hey people this is a sort of newbie question.

I have previously installed TOEE on my system and it worked fine.

    Windows xp service pack 2.

Then I tried installing it again and nothing doing.

I have norton internet security protection and i read somewhere on these helpful forums that you may need to disable it..so i disabled norton internet security and antivirus auto protect.
I cant recall if i installed TOEE when i still had norton on but it did work before.

I tried installing it again and nothng has changed.

Everytime I try...the program freezes up.i.e the run command when i type setup.... ..program is not responding.

At other times it mentions that the application fails to initialise.0xc000006 or something.

Anyone got any tips...it would be much appriecated

Do you have dotNET installed? I would suggest you install both versions, version 1.1 and version 2.0 [eventually, both will be needed].

If dotNET is not installed, the links to download are here. Plus, there is additional information on the linked page.

Krunch, read the post again please. He's not having problems with ToEEFE. He can't get the original game to install. You should be able to help him with that.

@Tragic: I'm just curious to ask; what version of Norton Internet Security and Antivirus do you have installed?

    ****************************************
Note: An "application fails to initialise" 0xc000006 error can occur when the system attempts to retrieve a swapped-out page and fails to complete the process. You mentioned NIS; so, I'll start there.

If your computer has viruses, clean it up with scans [update your NAV and run a full scan on all files]. You can [and I suggest you do this], run the following three antivirus scan executables you can get from here. And when done, try installing ToEE, again.

If your computer does not have any viruses [is clean, free of viruses] and you are not able to install ToEE, try this.

    [2000/XP]
Open the services.msc, stop and disable certain services.
    Windows 2000/XP should have these.
    i) Symantec Event Manager
    ii) Symantec Network Proxy
    iii) Symantec Password Validation
    iv) Symantec Settings Manager
    v) ISSVC
    vi) Norton AntiVirus Auto-Protect Service
    vii) Symantec Network Drivers Service
    viii) Symantec Core LC

for other people [98/98SE/Me] reading this
Use just the Task Manager, look for the Norton processes and End Task on them. Windows 98/ME should have these.
    i) ccApp
    ii) Symantec Core LC
    iii) ccEvtMgr
    iv) ccSetMgr
    v) ISSVC
    vi) ccProxy

Older versions of NIS and NAV tend to be problematic. The older the version of NIS and NAV, the more problems that are possible and can take place.

!!! I would suggest no one ever install Norton Internet Security on a gaming computer - avoid doing that.
IMO - Norton Antivirus 2006 may be okay as people have reported on some computers, including myself, but NEVER any version of Norton Internet Security.

Try installing ToEE, patching ToEE and install the Co8 MOD you prefer where if the above works [PC is clean of viruses and disabling NIS and NAV allows you to install ToEE], you should really consider uninstalling and removing Norton Internet Security and the associated version of NAV. If you do decide to uninstall NIS and NAV, please read the following.

    (1) Use the Add or Remove Programs applet and uninstall anything in the list that starts with the name Norton and the name Symantec.

    (2) OPTIONAL STEP
-> Only after uninstalling NIS and NAV by using Add or Remove Programs
, I would also suggest you run this, too.
-> Download the RnisUPG.exe file from the following link:
    RnisUPG.exe
    * If you run this app without first uninstalling all of the Norton and Symantec programs listed in Add or Remove Programs, your computer will have some serious problems, ie., like not being able to load the operating system when you start your computer.

Another thing i should mention..last time i installed toee and everytime when i quit the game...windows says there is a problem and needs to shut down.

The version is 2006( is that right?)

I will try and get back to you after following your instructions.

    NAV = Norton Anti-Virus

    Your using XP right?

go to start and then look for a little 'run' icon. Click on it.

then type into the little box which appears:

    services.msc

Then follow Krunch's advice on what to stop and disable.

Just a thought - jot down the original settings so that you can redo them should Norton not be the cause of your problems.

uhm - You can also try this if the above does not work.

Copy your files from each of the two CD disks to your hard drive. You can name one folder 'Install' and the other 'Play'. It should be obvious what CD disk to copy to which folder. Then, you can run the installation of ToEE from your hard drive.
    * The reason I mentioned this is because I am wondering if your computer has a CD drive issue or if your ToEE CD disks are okay. (Copying the CDs to the hard drive and installing the game from the hard drive will let you know whether there is an issue with the CD disks [copying files] or CD drive [installing from the hard drive].)
