Interesting thing, perhaps it would be nice if modders could implement it, if this appears useful. While being unexperienced with Bastard Sword, my fighter used it as a two-handed weapon, thus it's bonus damage was modified by 1.5. When he gained exotic weapon proficiency, he became able to use it in one hand. Yes it allowed him to take a shield but he was never able to handle the bastard sword as two-handed weapon and thus can never get 1.5 damage bonus from it! It seems not very logical. An unexperienced warrior can use the sword in two hands, but an experienced warrior loses this ability? Then there is another situation. I use a fighter with greatsword, then Enlarge him by magic. This results that he loses ability to handle the greatsword in two hands any more!!! But I used Enlarge just to give him that additional damage bonus. But instead of this he just lost it! So, here is the suggestion. Is it possible to make for every non-light weapon that when it is used without a shield or off-hand weapon, it is treated as a two-handed weapon? Or at least (in order not to make onehanded weapons too versatile) apply this bonus to Bastard Sword and all two-handed weapons. BTW, remind me please, what happens with an enlarged person, who holds a greatsword and a shield, after the spell expires? Does he drop the shield? Or if he continues to carry shield, this may be a great spoiler in the game. I used once to reduce an enemy, but didn't notice him to drop a shield or a weapon. Does the same apply to the situation when the spell of enlargement expires and the person handlesa two-handed weapon and a shield? What is possible to do with this? Perhaps all two-handed weapons should be treated as two-handed in all cases, but what about bastard sword?
yeah, good point. Haven't tried it myself but it seems that when you go back to your size, you can still carry that greatsword with your pinky as long as you don't switch weapons anymore...
BTW I can make a wand of Enlarge Person and teach my warrior to use wands. I guess that it doesn't need much skill to use a wand of 1 level spell? I can also make a Prolonged Enlarge Person spell. I liked my dwarf fighter6/rogue4 very much with improved trip. He very often tripped opponents and then he added a normal strike followed with sneak attack! And Enlarged version of this dwarf is the great knock-outer! I thought to replace dwarf with half-orc, but refused. Orcs have -2 to intellect, which is useful for rogue to disarm traps and learn more skills. Also dwarves have some fine fighter bonuses and Appaise bonus, which I try to use with maximum benefit. Interesting, what if I give him two greataxes while he is enlarged and train him to fight with two weapons (with focus on great axes)? Then let him knock-out everybody with two enchanted great axes followed with sneak attacks??? Looks like a sweet bloody dream! No?
lol As I haven't tried, dunno if the penalty gets worse when you carry giant weapons... My "lawnmover" is a half-orc Barbarian 1/Fighter 4/ Rogue 5 so far. He's the secondary rogue for everything but... sneaking. Base strenght 20, belt +6. Rages sometimes. Enlarged often. He does half of the killing by himself and on his own! Plus, being a tumbler, and a fast mover, he always flanks opponents for 3d6 sneak damage in the middle of any combat! Not a dual wielder yet, but already proficient with the bastard sword... and Improved Trip! The other stealthy one is my elven wizard 5/ rogue 5. She does all the trap and lockpicking, pickpocketing, etc. Sneaks by sometimes with the fighter. Can buff him, too. Often will take out an ogre by herself with 2 shots before they even knew she was there! As for the use of wands, this time I've given my Drow fighter 3 levels of wizardry. Maybe one should be enough! Has wands of fireshield, mirror image, whatnot... :cool2: Use item with only a few ranks and possibly low or average charisma can be tricky I suppose. One level of wizard takes care of wands and miscellaneous, gives you a familiar, and one more feat!
The game already does this. While it won't animate your character weilding a one-handed weapon in two hands, if you check the damage rolls, the game will apply 1.5 Strength bonus to damage.
Unfortunately, though, it still applies power attack bonuses as if you were wielding the weapon one handed (+1 instead of +2 damage per point taken from the BAB).
It's nice to know. Thanks. I'll test it. But as for the second issue, I've tested this on the weekend. While being enlarged a person still treats a greatsword as a two-handed weapon. But the spoiler still works for Glaive at least (I didn't test other polearms). For an enlarged person Glaive works now as a one-handed weapon and thus allows to carry a large shield while carrying Glaive. After "Enlarge person" is dispelled a person remains with his glaive and large shield. If such a person engages in melee he also has a buggy animation since his glaive is directed right through the center part of his shield. But yes it's good that the spoiler was fixed for greatsword.
