I'm having a lot of trouble keeping my mage alive. Last attempt against the skeletons of Emridy Fields was disappointing. Buffed with Mage Armor and Shield and rocking some sparkly mirror images, the skeletons needed very good rolls to hit. Of course, they rolled a bunch of 20s in the first couple of rounds. The thing that puzzled me, though, was that mirror image offered no protection at all. Was it just very bad luck that every hit chanced to bypass the images (something like a 1 in 5 each time) or is there an issue with the mirror image spell? I had a look in the rolls dialog, but there was no mention of a roll to check which image would be hit. If its relevant, I also had protection from arrows running, because those crossbow skeletons also do very well at scoring 20s. I'm running temple+ and co8 mod from 9.16.2013, which I believe is the latest Edit: its version 8.1.0 new content edition
I've paid a big more attention to when it seems mirror image is being bypassed. It seems that it happens when the monster rolls a natural 20. Is it possible that the check for natural 20 = autohit comes before the check for mirror image?
In today's episode of Busted ToEE Spells: Mirror Image is bugged in that the chance to hit an image is not 1 / number of images (+1) , but 1 / ORIGINAL number of images. I.e. if you cast MI and get 6 initial mirror images, the chance to strike the caster will be 1/6 all the way until the MI's are exhausted. Funny how no one ever mentioned the RNG was being kind for a change, eh?
Yes, it's fixed for next version. You could never really check it without a debugger since the roll history console doesn't report that particular dice roll.
