no matter how many times i try, when i get to hommlet no kids. don't know what i'm doing wrong. can anyone help me please! thanks in advance.
Step one is to uninstall the game. (I'd recommend down to registry, but if you don't know how to do that, do the best you can with an uninstaller). Step two. Reinstall ToEE. Step three. Apply the Atari 2 patch. This runs automatically so you should have no problems here. Step four. Apply the Co8 fan patch. Morpheus' thread contains all the info you need for this patch and Moebius' temple.dll patch. Step five. Apply Moebius' temple.dll Step six. Apply Livonya's mod following the instructions s/he gives. ***If you are applying the patches correctly you should get the message that you need to overwrite existing files - select 'yes to all'***** NB This is how I install the game. No doubt other people will point out that some parts of this install are not necessary, but I've found this to be a stable way to install the game.
If the kids aren't there then your problem is with the maps folder. Please read the instructions for installation again. Look at the part about the maps folder and deleating the strange named files in the maps folder. That is where your problem is at... Either you have not deleated the strange named files or you have not put the maps folder in the right place. - Livonya
maps what maps? sorry, but i'm new with computers and i don't know what i'm doing. o.k i downloaded liv's 1.5 opened it and extracted to the temple of elemental evil file, nothing happens. liv, when i try to follow your instuctions, i can't find the maps or the data/dlg folder. i installed patch 2, then fan fixes 308, then liv's mod.(tried to anyways) i would appreciate any and all help. liv, i love what you have done, and i can't wait to play! thank so very much!!!
If you've only extracted liv's zip file to your Temple of Elemental Evil directory you have not done her install. Doing this only creates a sub directory in the ToEE directory that contains the necessary files. You must now follow her instructions to copy those files into the appropriate directories... most are under the "Data" directory, while Maps is under the "Modules" directory (or maybe it's called mods... whichever... I'm doing this from memory). You should at least feel comfortable using standard windows copy/paste commands to do this install. I hope this helps.
The maps directory is can be found in \Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil\modules\ToEE\maps in whichever directory you installed the game into. C:\Program Files is the default.
i installed the temple.dll into toee found the maps folder, deleted everything and installed liv's maps when i open the data folder all i find are art, movies, and sound sub-folders no dlg, mes, rules, or scr what am i doing wrong?
Livonya has in a post elsewhere that the files that are in those directories are only those that have been modified. By that token, you should be just fine copying the folders within the 1.5 mod right into the data directory of your game installation.
o.k i extracted directly into the data folder. this time my test characters had different equipment, and the blacksmith had masterwork items. still no kids, i figure i did the maps wrong. i deleted all the files in the map folder, then extracted liv's maps into the same folder. is that right? help!! this is making me crazy!!
Take a break and then come back to it. Go away for ten minutes, getya! ;p When you say you deleted all the files.. which files? I usually have 120 or so files with crazy names like xhfhi2343. These are the things you delete. When you look in the maps folder, do you have a set of folders there, each containing files with names like Hommlet_1? Did you get an option to overwrite files when you put Livonya's patch into the maps folder?
