I'm playing a Lawful Evil party, and planning to do all the minor Temples' quests. First I did 2 Earth Temple quests, then 2 Fire Temple quests. After receiving the 3rd Fire Temple quest, I confronted Smigmal. I didn't attack her and she stopped the combat in her 2nd turn. I pretended to believe her story and let her go. Then I confronted Falrinth, he left after being threatened and I took his Golden Orb. I returned to Alrrem and gave him the orb. Alrrem escorted me to Hedrack and I receive his quest to deal with Scorpp. I entered the Air Elemental Node to recruit Ashrem and use the cheat code to get a scroll of Teleport then teleported back to Hommlet. Went back to the Temple but I was ambushed by Skole's goons because I failed to kill Lodriss in 3 days so I changed direction and visited Nulb to settle the score with Skole. After getting back in the Temple, I pick-pocketed all the neutral creatures in level 1 and 2 (got lots of money and potions). I also pick-pocketed the Orb from Alrrem. Killed Alrrem's bugbears outside (north and south) of his quarters. Time to deal with Scorpp, killed him and went to level 4 to report to Hedrack. When I entered level 4 (using map item or the stairs from level 3), there's a single troll near the stairs and combat was initiated. It's one of the troll in front of Barkinar's room. There are 4 trolls there but one of them somehow moved to near the stairs. When I talked to Hedrack, he was angry and said that the Temple is at full alert and I had to combat him and his army. Tried to sneak my way so the single troll doesn't attack me but he still said the same thing. I reload an older save before killing Scorpp and still got the same result. What happens? Is it because of Smigmal? She said that she had alerted the temple when I visited her again. But I tried another older save before I confront Smigmal and Falrinth, and after they both run away, I rest for several days in Lareth's Tower (I rescued him from Hommlet) but Hedrack hasn't been alerted. Note about Smigmal and Falrinth If I confront Falrinth first, Smigmal will uncover her disguise and summon her two assassins when I open her room. The 2 bugbears who appears after their disappearance don't attack me nor inform Smigmal and Falrinth. I read that the bugbears should attack or alert Smigmal and Falrinth.
I think I know why Hedrack was alerted. I let Smigmal and Falrinth escaped and Hedrack will be alerted if Smigmal respawns in her room. If I let some time pass (resting or adventuring), Smigmal respawns if I enter Dungeon level 3. This makes Hedrack alerted. But if I use the map to skip Dungeon level 3, Smigmal doesn't respawn and Hedrack is not alerted.
