I am not having a lot of luck with ToEE and the minute...(third post due to problems, and second in two days..sigh)

Can anybody explain how my 9th level Healing Domain cleric can cast Cure Critical wounds (4D8+10 becuase of the caster level) and only heal 10 hits? i also cast a Cure Light Wounds mass and only got single digit healing on several characters - and apparently none o the most seriously damaged ones.

Is this a known problem or am I just exceptionally unlucky?

Not many spells over 5th level are implemented into the game yet (and it will probably be quite a while before they are).

Cure Light Wounds Mass *is* 5th level! It's been in the game since the start!

I could understand the problem if it was a 6th or higher level spell (in fact I'd just have chalked it up to bad luck). But it's a spell that really ought to have been sorted in the original release. Particularly a healing spell, being one of the slightly more important type of spells...

It's not just that: I just watched a Cure Serious wounds; - 3D6+10 supposedly - heal 6 hits. Yes 6. There's something wrong here.

When I read this, I thought Magic Resistance. Possible or is that not an issue?

No, I just checked to be absoultly sure, but none of my characters have Spell Resistance, and none of the characters in quesion have any gear.

The only possibilty might be the fact the cleric's wearing some of Hedrack's gear; not his shield, as that slapped a negative energy level on her. None of the rest of the gear seemed to have anything other that beneficial effects. Plus right after I cast the 6-point Cure Serious, I cast a Cure Moderate that healed 20, which is a 2D8+10.

Does anybody know excactly what Hedrack's armour, gauntlets and boots do, other than the obvious (i.e. +3 plate, +6 Str and +4 Ref saves respectively)?

I had a similar impossably bad roll from a cure moderate wounds the other day, 2hp from a 5th level cleric or something ridiculous.

I think I've seen the boots help the reflex save, and the helmet help will, but not for all characters. Maybe you have to be evil or something.

As for the healing rolls, I've had my share of bad rolling in ToEE, but never had this problem before. I've gotten lots of healings that seemed to be 4d8+10=14 or 15, but never 8 or something. Makes me think it may be patch-related, as all I run is patch 2 and moebius' temple.zip.

I guess the scripts for those spells are all screwed up then.

The Army of the Red Spear, my Undead Army, commanded by the Lichemaster Lord Death Despoil.

I'm currently running Patch 1, 2, the Co8 patch and Liv's mod, installed as per the instructions on this site.

Actually, I'm very near the end of the game, now, as I'm having to run on my old machine on the dining room table (see my eariler thread), so I don't think it'll make much difference to me in the end, but I thought I'd check, just in case - as it seems to be - a bug. If we can tie it down to any of the patches, I can stick it in the bug threads.

Would it be possible for you to post the spell scripts for the two spells in question? They should be located in the data\scr folder under your main ToEE install directory and they should be named. 'Spell221-Healing Circle.py' (for Cure light Wounds, Mass) and 'Spell089-Cure Critical Wounds.py' (self explanatory here). You can post them as attachments here if you make a copy of the files and change the extension of the copies from '.py' to '.txt'. Make sure you don't change the original files.

Unfortunatly, not easily. The reason is, I wasn't able to install ToEE on my current machine for reasons that escape me, and so I've had to put on my backup machine. For reasons which escape me, I can't get that to connect to the internet (which is odd since it always did before), and the new machine doesn't have a floppy drive, only a DVD writer. About the best I could do is post the scripts from out of Liv's Beta 1.5.1 mod - which was the last mod I put on - so I assume must be the most current.

Is that worth doing? If so I'll do it.

Just as long as this issue wasn't caused by my mod :jerkin:
