This may sound stupid, but what is "Heal" suppose to do? My cleric Heal skill is 15, but nothing happens when he supposed heals successfully. It doesn't restore any hit points, which I'm guessing only "Cure..." spells do. It doesn't do heal diseases. The manual says it keeps a character from dying, but when I had a character on the ground dying, it still doesn't do anything. Is this a useless skill to build? Also, how do you know if certain skills and feats are automatic or if there is an option you are suppose to select. Such as you obviously have to select Power Attack and then set the amount each time you use it. But what about something like Weapon Finesse? Manual says you "may" use the Dex modifier instead of Strength on a weapon. Is this automatic; I don't see an option to select it. My halfling is using a rapier, but I can't tell if the feat is working.
When a charater is below zero hp and is still loosing hp to blood loss they are considered "dying". The heal feat will allow a character to try to keep them from loosing any more hp from blood loss, or "stabilize" them. It will not restore any hp. Sometimes a character will stabilize on their own, sometimes not ( I think is has something to do with fortitude). If a character does not stabilize, he/she will continue to loose hp from blood loss until they reach -10 and are dead. Feats that you cannot access through the radial menu are used automatically. In the case of weapon finesse, the game compares the strength and dex bonuses and uses the higher of the two. To check if your halfling is using weapon finesse, open his/her inventory and click on the attack bonus. A window will open to show all the factors that make up the bonus. If your halfling is using weapon finesse, it will appear there.
