    no real ToEE install information provided by the user, except mentioned XP Pro x64 and x64 computer

    Re: i cant install the game

    ****************************************
    Windows XP Professional x64 Edition redirects the \Program Files directory for all programs that are 32-bit during the installation to the \Program Files(x86) directory. Programs that 64-bit are installed into the \Program Files directory.
    ****************************************
    1. Are you using the English NO-CD VERSION 2 fix?
    * some patch notes
    - a. Atari Patch1 installed = use NO-CD version 1 fix
    - b. Atari Patch2 installed = use NO-CD version 2 fix
    - c. Atari Patch3 installed = use NO-CD version 3 fix
    ** do NOT use Atari Patch3 installed on ToEE and its related NO-CD VERSION 3 fix
    *** English NO-CD VERSION 2 works for ToEE + Atari Patch 1 and 2 + Co8 4 MOD (also works with Toffee)
    -> ToEE v2 [ENGLISH] NO-CD/Fixed EXE <- use MIRRORs 1 to 10, NOT 11, NOT 12

    2. When you start the game, go in to GAME OPTIONS [before selecting and starting a selected game] and set the game video to run at 75 Hertz.

    3. On Windows XP Pro x64 [64-bit version], did you install ToEE using the suggested path C:\ToEE that I referred to in a previous post?
    * This is just a suggestion due to the fact XP Pro x64 places 32-bit programs it installs in the '\Program Files(x86)' folder. I don't know how ToEE game and python code will react to the game being installed in the (x86) path...maybe it will work or will not work [dont care either way], step 2 is merely just a suggestion.

    4. Make sure the both the video and audio drivers are updated to the latest version of manufacturer drivers.
    * I would, additionally, suggest you install Bink video RADtools and Miles audio MilesT32 for Windows (related to game and system drivers).

    5. Seeing how you have newer high-end hardware...flash the motherboard BIOS ROM. You can do this or not do this...it's just a suggestion, a recommendation.

    6. Definitely - in the motherboard BIOS, turn off [disable] load Video Cache in Memory and load BIOS in Memory...save changes to BIOS and reboot.

    7. If you installed an addon audio card (the motherboard has integrated audio on the motherboard but you do not use it) and you are still having issues after following the above steps, uninstall the software for the addon audio card, uninstall its drivers in Windows, and follow the correct steps to remove the addon audio card [ie., try using the integrated audio on the motherboard]. Restart the computer and, then, try running ToEE.

    good luck!..

    BIOS Agent 3.45

    BIOS Agent will automatically identify your BIOS and system information.

    BIOS Date, Type, and ID String; BIOS ROM Data, Socket, and Size;
    CPU Type, Speed, and Data; Motherboard OEM Data and Chipset;
    Super I/O Data; Memory Data and Configuration

    -> BIOS Agent 3.45
    * This is not an installable program. It is just an executable file with a few support files you extract to one folder. Launch the executable, click the GET INFO button, it posts the information and close it when ready...you do not need to click submit...submit info is to request a purchase for a new BIOS you would pay them to program for you of which you do not have to submit or buy [just click CLOSE and, then, click NO when done].

    Note: eSupport is the world's oldest and largest provider of BIOS Upgrades with nearly 15 years of experience.

    Thank you for this Krunch. Now, we just need someone who plays ToEE and still has NAV installed to test this and see if it resolves the conflict. It is just my personal opinion, but I don't think it will.

    Windows 2000/XP PAGEFILE location

    ****************************************

    !!! modification for Windows 2000 and Windows XP only

    You only need one PAGEFILE for Windows 2000 and Windows XP, not two - regardless of the number of partitions or hard drives in the computer.

    If you have two or more physical hard drives installed [at least a C: drive and D: drive] where your Windows operating system is on the C: drive, it is best to set only one PAGEFILE and set it to be on the D: drive or subsequent hard drive. (increases performance)

    !!! Please understand that having one physical hard with two or more partitions does not increase performance by setting the PAGEFILE to be on a partition different from the partition with the operating system.
    * This means if you only have one physical hard drive with two or more partitions, set the PAGEFILE to be on the C: drive, the same partition as the Windows operating system.

    -> Please click here for details on setting the SIZE of a PAGEFILE in Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

    Note: If you do set the PAGEFILE to be on a hard drive partition that is different from the physical hard drive with the Windows operating system, [if you want] you can set a PAGEFILE that has a 25 MegaByte minimum and a 25 MegaByte maximum on the C: drive.
    * This is for Windows to dump registry information to a PAGEFILE for a situation IF Windows crashes and experiences a STOP error, commonly referred to as a BSoD or called a Blue Screen of Death error. This is not ultimately important and is not required, but can be set.

    PS: If you are curious about the SWAPFILE in Windows 98/SE/Me, I would suggest [is just my opinion] that you let Windows manage the SWAPFILE and keep it on the C: drive.

    Windows 98 SE re-configuration (deserves its own post in this thread)

    ****************************************

    !!! eXtreme supercharge modification for Windows 98 SE only - NOT for the feign or weak of heart [means those who are not power users] where if you do this wrong, you could be looking at reinstalling Windows.
    * The following modfications are extreme.
    ** I listed a single basic modification for Windows 98/SE/Me in a previous post, click here.

    in the system.ini file
    |* Open your system.ini file located at C:\windows\system.ini. Make sure you copy and paste the boldface entries below exactly as shown. Do NOT copy the pipe symbol character ("|") when you copy and paste the boldface entries.
    |** in the [386enh] Section of the system.ini file
    |
    |32BitDiskAccess=ON
    |* Enables 32-bit disk access.
    |
    |DMABufferSize=64
    |* Increases your 16-bit Direct Memory Access (DMA) channel buffer to 64.
    |
    |ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1
    |* This causes the swap file to be handled the way it was in Windows 95, and forces the use of the computer's RAM first, before the use of the swap file. Big performance increase if you have over 128 MB of RAM installed.
    |
    |IRQx=4096
    |* For stabler and faster performance. Replace x with your PCI/ISA card's IRQ number (will work with shared IRQ's). This does decrease system RAM available to programs, recommended only if you have 64MB or more of RAM.

    in the msdos.sys file (Do NOT copy the pipe symbol character ("|") when you copy and paste the boldface entries.)
    |* Be sure to remove the read-only attribute first, else you won't be able to save changes. Make sure you copy and paste the boldface entries below exactly as shown.
    |
    |Doublebuffer=1
    |* if you have no SCSI devices, use DoubleBuffer=0 instead
    |Dblspace=0
    |Drvspace=0
    |Logo=0
    |Bootdelay=0

    in the config.sys file (Do NOT copy the pipe symbol character ("|") when you copy and paste the boldface entries.)
    |* There is only thing you want here.
    |
    |stacks=0,0

    Note: This will improve your computer's stability. If you are unsure about deleting it, you can either backup your config.sys file or rem [remark] the entries. (The same below applies to autoexec.bat file.)
    * To remark a line, put "REM" followed by a space in front of each line...no quotes, of course.

    in the autoexec.bat file (Do NOT copy the pipe symbol character ("|") when you copy and paste the boldface entries.)
    |
    |@DelTree /Y C:\WINDOWS\Temp
    |@MD C:\WINDOWS\Temp

    Note: This will get rid of all those temporary files that keep piling up in your Windows\temp directory every time you reboot.

    DirectX Diagnostic Tool and DirectX Versions...see the attached PDF files.

    ****************************************

    [EDIT] PS: added (attached) an interesting and extremely informative DirectX Versions PDF file

    * Note: DirectX emulation could be relative to temple node slowdowns.

    "If you, for instance, have a DirectX 9 game in your PC and a video card whose graphic chip is DirectX 8, when the game requests a command that DirectX knows your video card won't understand, it will make an emulation to execute the command. Of course this emulation is not perfect and the final result will be that the game won't have the same image quality as if it were run in a genuinely DirectX 9 hardware."

    ****************************************

    Video card information for DirectX as of February 2005 follows, below.

    DirectX 8.0 =
    nVidia GeForce 3, GeForce 4 Ti
    ATI Radeon 8500, Radeon 9000, Radeon 9100, Radeon 9200, and Radeon 9250

    DirectX 9.0 =
    nVidia GeForce FX series through the 6200; the 6600, 6800 series; and newer
    ATI Radeon 9500 series and newer

    News.com reported Symantec spokesperson admitted to using a rootkit type feature in Norton SystemWorks to hide a directory so customers wouldn't accidentally delete files. The problem was it could also provide a convenient hiding place for attackers to place malicious files. Due to the vulnerability, Symantec has issued an update for SystemWorks and is "strongly recommending" users update the software immediately.

    Note: IMO - I never have liked the idea of using Norton SystemWorks!..
