Err, it's weird, I've had that annoying bug even after the official patch and Co8 patch, then I just removed the race_subtype column of gnolls in proto.tab and things look fixed.

    Weird!

Gnolls in ToEE have damage reduction 5/blundgeon which they shouldn't have, that's a bug.

    Neither.

Someone at Atari forum suggested that the damage reduction bug might come from Gnolls sharing a same flags as Skeleton Gnolls. I just tried that idea. And... Well. :)Problem solved for the moment.

    I'm mistaken...

In fact it seems like there are 2 sorts of gnolls, one has damage reduction, the other doesn't.

so you're saying there are basically:

    Gnolls (no damage reduction)

and "Thick Skinned Gnolls" (damage reduction, susceptible to bludgeoning"?

not "basically", "buggly" if you see what I mean. :) There's no such gnoll in D&D rulebooks.

    Exitium,

How do you guys compile all of the protos fixes into one single protos? For instance: Let's say that Someone fixes this DR bug, and I finish fixing the MW armor bug. How do you guys go about smooshing everything together for the patch?

Also shin said that there were 2 subtypes of gnolls. It should eb a simple proto hack to go in and change all instances of gnoll (shouldn't be many) to the subtype w/o DR.

I might do this, after I finish with masterwork items, if somebody can tell me which subtype has DR and which one doesn't. However I'd be much happier if someone else did this, as it's not a hard task and I would rather this be a community of people all pitching in, rather than 6 or 8 people doing all the work and everyone else just asking for more stuff.

    Just my $.02

We basically relay the changes we make to each other by making notes of what part of the PROTOS.TAB or any other file we've changed so that whoever does the compiling knows what to look for when implementing the changes into the master PROTOS.TAB.

Any news regarding this? I tried to look this up myself and found 1 Gnoll Leader and 4 types of Gnolls listed in description.mes

All the above Gnoll templates have the Gnoll subtype and the 5/Bludgeoning is not mentioned specifically in protos.tab as compared to Skeleton Gnolls. Am I reading something wrong here?

Removing the Gnoll subtype may affect the Ranger's favored enemy bonuses against them and IMHO, we should try another option first if possible.

Just tested on a couple of Gnolls in the moathouse. These don't seem to have DR. Could anyone specify which Gnolls in the Temple/other locations have 5/Bludgeoning? I'll get to testing when I can.

    Earth temple level

There is a big room full of gnolls (gnolls and gnoll leader), bugbears and ogres. Try there.
