His name was all over the D&D/ AD&D rulebooks and modules at the end of the 70's. Everything since in D&D or RPG's in general has been accomplished by people standing on his tall shoulders. When I hear thunder now, I will tell people that it's EGG rolling his dice in the sky....
What Gary Gygax envisioned and created in to being a game is what and is why we are here together, collectively, in the fellowship of this forum, mod the Atari Temple of Elemental Evil game and are working to add the Keep on the Borderlands.
A sad day, indeed, for gamers around the world. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hxo9gFBHJsE Thank you, Gary.
Only ever got to speak with him once, saw him a few times. The founder of the feast. Haven't felt like this since David Gemmell went. Fair sailing, Gary.
His work was amazing, unique, great and brilliant. When I was a lad I was introduced to DnD and GG's name was on everything, he inspired my imagination and gave me a safe place to play inside my head. ..
Penny Arcade summed it up best with their tribute  Godspeed Col_Pladoh, may the Divine and the Infinite be more beautiful than we ourselves could ever imagine. Edit: BTW, Kerry Bourgoine over at Troll Lord Games (which Gary had been working with to publish the real Castle Greyhawk/Castle Zagyg) wrote this, in case some of you may be interested. I'm sure Ernie (as in Erac's Cousin and Tenser) or Mrs. Gygax would appreciate a small email.
Well, quite a sad news for all D&D players all around world But, well, maybe our Father in Heaven want to play a PNPRPG, and need a good DM ^_^
