Whenever I start combat in the Fire Temple, the game always freezes. The active character's movement bar would be empty, and every time I click the red arrow to end that character's turn, the bar just grays out without the turn transfering to the next player or creature. I try to press the Esc button but it doesn't work. I can move the pointer though and even click on other characters, open the roll, options and dialog tabs but everything still stays in place. :\ I have patch 1 and 2 and Co8 patch installed. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
There were some similar reports previously so this is definitely a known bug and a very irritating one at that. Some players say that they solved the issue by turning off concurrent turns. For others it didn't seem to work. I'm not really sure of the cause. There may be 2 or more separate issues here, one of which may be due to having some creatures having the same initiative value skipping their turns. Another similar problem which is well documented is if you leave some combatants unconscious and return to the same place at a later date, you may find the fight locking up when the enemy gets their turn. This one has happened before to werewolves, ogres and trolls... Not sure about the Fire temple though. Anyway I'd probably reload an earlier save and reattempt the fight. Or start off the fight with an offensive spell. If you manage to kill off some combatants outright you may be able to bypass the problem. There's no definite solution to this one despite the fact that we have already mentioned it to Troika devs, which is why I make a habit to save just before a fight, just in case some unexpected weirdness occurs. Thanks Zhuge. My saved game is actually right before I talk to Allrem. What happened in the course of my game is that I failed to open the chest and so I just tried to pick pocket the priest. I got caught, combat ensued and then the first incident of freezing occured. So whenever I reload, I just head on down to the Fire Temple to start a fight with the Fire Priest near the locked chest to see if I could recreate the bug. Everytime I reload and attempt combat, the same incident always occurs. The culprit is always at the end of a PC's turn when I click the "end turn" arrow. Its tough to beat all of them with a spell since the brothers of fire and the salamanders don't appear all at once. I'll put the game on the shelf for a while, because its not fun anymore. Perhaps when I've cooled off a bit. Six tries with a 100% freeze rate is rather irritating. Thanks again. (^_^)
This is a reply from newfie in SP: From what I understand it is a game bug associated with the fires burning in the temple. If you run into this bug, chances are you will also run into trouble in the Fire Node in the conclusion, and the fungi on the fourth level of the temple.
