Where are the save game and custom character files located? I want to be able to copy them, but I can't find them I'm using the GOG version of the game, with Co8 7.4.1 NC. It's installed in the program friles (x86) default location (for GOG). Windows 7 64bit, UAC completely disabled :3
The front end program has a function to "Backup Saves" implemented as a button, third from the right. You should be able to put the copies wherever you want them.
If you want to go after them yourself, they're in modules/ToEE/saves and modules/ToEE/players. Incidentally, you should not have ToEE installed to a Program Files subdirectory in Windows 7. It oftentimes restricts access, which doesn't allow TFE-X to carry out necessary functions re: module activation and can result in a generally screwed game.
You can just greate a folder in your C drive and name it Games, then drag your TOEE folder from the GoG folder and drop it in the Games Folder. I recommend just deleting the TFE-X desktop icon and right clicking on the TFE-X exe file in your Games directly and choose :create shortcut, then drag the new shortcut to your desk top. When I had TOEE installed in my Prog files(86) directory the movies would crash my game with Win7 nVidia GTX480, but after moving it to a Games directory on my C drive it runs the movies well and no crashes.
I have the practice of never installing a program into the C drive program files directory. The only things that ever go there are things that do not give me any choice on installation directory. I also have the habit of creating different virtual drives, each with a particular purpose. For example, my I: drive is for games, and nothing else. I have a D: drive for all of the utility programs I have installed, e.g. 4NT, editing programs, etc. It all helps me keep things separate, neat and tidy.
One thing about that though is that if you have a glitchy installation/module activation in that folder and you copy it over to a new folder, the installation/module activation will remain glitchy. Probably the best thing to do is reinstall the game to the other location and then activate the module again.
Hmmmmm, my movies were not playing, then I just dragged it over and now they run. Do you think I just got lucky Gear? I think I might have to do a re-install myself. :questionm
I suppose it's possible that indeed fixed the movies for you (just them not being in Program Files), and you may not have had any other issues at all. As far as I can tell it's not universal, and Windows 7 is almost as voodoo-like as ToEE, so ... That said, the principal still applies that a messed up game simply copied over to a new directory will still be messed up.
