For no reason at all, here's a new thread. The rules are simple: 1) You should post your favourite things here. Favourite anything - book, song, food, anything at all. 2) In every post you have to include a favourite thing of yours - so even if you are commenting on someone else's post (rightly ridiculing someone who posts Bon Jovi as their favourite band, for instance) you still have to say "o and my favourite Star Trek race are the Ferenghi". I'll start: Favourite Short Story: Berenice by Edgar Allen Poe Favourite Writer: Roger Zelazny Favourite Song: Final section of Mike Oldfield's Incantations (the hymn to Diana)
I don't have much to comment on in your post, but Poe is easily my favorite Poet. I generally hate poetry too Favorite Strategy Rpg : Front Mission or Warsong Favorite DnD build : Arcane Warrior, Gish, Fighter/Mage - whatever you call it. I routinely put one in all my parties just for flavor, and have gone into arming them with Light Maces - The rod of smiting. I use the Elven chain, elven shield and with that weapon, he looks like a real magic warrior. I think the weapon really sells the character. It fits the fluff (uses magic to battle) and looks impressive.
Favourite Steven Seagal movie: Executive Decision Favourite Ben Affleck movie: Smokin' Aces Favourite Sex and the City episode: The one where Sara Jessica Parker buys new shoes; the hot chick complains about being one more day closer to dying single; the old chick gets dumped for a hotter, younger chick; and the other one acts like a bitch. Then, when they're all drinking cappuccinos and sharing their days with each other, Godzilla attacks and stomps them to death. --thearioch
I've never seen the show, but doesn't Godzilla stomp them to death at the end of every season? Favourite food: Lettuce, preferably when part of a prawn cocktail.
Which Edgar Allen Poe story is Berenice? Favorite author thought to be sort of like Edgar Allen Poe: Ambrose Bierce Favorite most bittersweet Ambrose Bierce story: Beyond The Wall
Its one about dentistry - Clark Ashton Smith wrote a synopsis for something very similar. I've never seen it in any 'best of's' or 'bunch of Poe's works published together' efforts, but read it in a collected 'horror' thing that included stories by Beirce, Lovecraft, Stephen King (very poor entry) and others. Favorite author thought to be sort of like H. P. Lovecraft: Clark Ashton smith (much prefer him, actually) Favourite moment in Tolkein: When Aldarion, trying to be a good husband and stay home, sees the ocean while riding over a hill - "and the sea longing took him and grasped him by the throat, and he struggled for mastery" (or something).
Favourite NPC in a CRPG: HK-47 (KOTOR1&2) Favourite Breakfast Cereal: Ghost Busters Favourite Kool-Aid Flavour: Sharkleberry Fin --thearioch
Favorite maggit song: The Price of Separation Favorite picture from the whatsername74 collection (I prefer the sober ones):
@Gaear awww shucks... Just don't forget that I'm not the only one who composes them. Favourite Gaear's KotB track: Kobold Caves Favourite English book author: Terry Pratchett Favourite Polish book author: Witold Gombrowicz Favourite D&D computer game: Baldur's Gate (still!) Favourite 3rd Ed D&D computer game: ToEE (Hell yeah!) Favourite D&D game portrait artist: Half_Knight (No kidding here!)
Knock Knock Who's there? Witold Witold who? Witold him he can't write, but Maggit loves his stuff anyway! :icon_chuc Favourite Programmer: Andrew Braybrook
@Ted with the crappy authors in Poland he is the only one left. But I'm quite sure the translations don't do him justice he uses quite 'original' language in his writing. Favourite Monty Python Sketch: Hungarian dictionary (got bored with The Dead Parrot)
Favorite National Anthem type song: Jerusalem (Blake/Perry) ... I will not cease from Mental Fight, Nor shall my sword sleep in my hand, Till we have built Jerusalem, In England’s green & pleasant Land! ELP version (1973): http://www.mdcook.addr.com/music/ELP_Jerusalem.mp3
