First of all, I'd like to say that I am pleased (and a little surprised) that there's still an active community making new content for this game. I've just picked it up for the first time in years, and it feels like a whole new game with the various mods and such. And I haven't even triied the Keep on the Borderlands demo yet, which I understand *is* effectively a whole new game. Anyway, my question. I've searched around the forums, but found conflicting answers, so I'll just ask: does using a scroll of Extraplanar Chest require one to have 5000 gold? I'm guessing that's why it never works when I try to use the scroll with my wizard, even though normally scrolls shouldn't require you to provide any additional material components. (I also have yet to find the actual miniature chest item in the game yet, though I am willing to accept that I just haven't looked in the right place!) On a related note, should the Detect Magic spell hilight magic items on another character or on the ground, or just when you're in the inventory screen? I could have sworn I saw it do this once, but I may have misinterpreted what I was seeing.
I'm pretty sure there's a chest miniature on one of the Moathouse zombies. You need to ID it first before it works, though. It's activated in the radial menu. Casting the spells just summons another miniature, so it's not really needed unless you happen to lose the chest. Dunno about detect magic. Frankly, I've never bothered with these kinds of spells, but that's because when I started the game I never bothered with proper scouting, and now I already know the game's ins and outs anyway so it'd be kind of pointless.
The chest is on one of the zombies, and should be there even if you failed to loot it the first time... Question: Does each use of the chest cost any GP? I never really considered that...
I found the chest on my most recent run-through and it seems to work fine. (Or at least I didn't notice it deducting gold, and I think I'd notice suddenly being 5000 gp poorer, especially as I don't even *have* 5000 gp at this stage of the game ) It sure seemed like it wasn't there at all in the first runthrough, though it's possible that the corpse it was on died in an innaccessible place or something. I'm still curious about whether the scrolls expect you to have gold before you can use them, though. (Haven't gotten them in this playthrough yet). Or, more accuratelly, I'm curious about whether that's the reason they didn't work the last time I tried using one. (The chest itself seems to work fine for me now.)
I think the 5000 gold is for making a new chest, not using it. It's been my experience that I can't cast Identify unless I have 100 gold or its monetary equivalent. So you probably can't cast the spell without 5000 gold for spell components.
It costs 50 franklins each time you cast the spell. BUT, you give it to a party member with like a 16+ appraise skill and it sells for 230 franklins! I don't even loot anything anymore. When I want cash, I just cast the spell a few times, sell the chests and go on my way.
Thats a bug to be fixed, Necroticpus: one too many zeroes in the 'value' column in protos.tab. It will disappear from future verions, and you will be back to making an honest living pillaging and looting like everyone else.
Hi Necro Yep. You now have to move from Wall Street to Main Street and play like the rest of us. oke: The Royal Canadian
