Hi, I'm rolling a nuetral evil party and was wondering if evil characters can use holy weapons or should they stick with unholy. The reason I'm asking is because most of the mobs you encounter are evil. I just don't know what type of cleric and what domains I should choose since he will be the arms and armor crafter. Thanks
I usually avoid Evil parties, but I have done some. I'm not a "magic crafter" too, becose this took too long time in P&P game time, and I play ToEE just as I play a board game. Having this in mind let me say this: Avoid crafting. Just get what the game gives ya. Its possible to beat the game this way, and more chalenging. Ya shall choose to craft magic weapons with yer cleric, choose a lawful deity and take the Law domain to craft axiomatic weapons - holly weapons aren't for evil characters ya must have the Good domain to craft then. I don't know the exact effects of a holly weapon being wielded by a evil character (of any class) but I know that it hurts! [edit] As a foot note, note also that evil clerics or clerics of evil deities always will have access just to negative-energy chaneling, so they will allways spontaneowsly convert spells in to Inflict spells and rebuke undeads. But even in a Evil party ya shall have a neutral cleric of a neutral (or even a good) deity to have acess to good-energy spells and to expulse undeads - and even to craft that holy weapons!
Only a good cleric can craft holy weapons, but you could make a LE cleric who makes axiomatic (Lawful) weapons, almost as good as most of the tougher monsters (bugbears, trolls) are CE. You will need to take the lawful domain.
Also, when you find Holy weapons, be aware: they will cause your evil characters to take a -1 level penalty when you use them.
Hey! Wait a minute! Is that what happens when you equip Hedrack's shield on a good character? I think it must be, because you can see their hit point total change immediately!
atm I'm running an chaotic evil party, but I've got a CN dwarven fighter/cleric of Kord, who has acces to good & strength domain. He's not ready yet to craft weapons, but he knows how to kick some serious butt if buffed in the right way. B-)
Looks like every one its able to explain things better than me. Damn, I need some lessos of english, serious....
Thanks for the responses. I just wanted to try something different to see how the story changes and npc's react. I'm guessing things are a little tougher going this route. :Being_a_s
There are some interesting evil options involving Lareth right now. Search the forums if you want to learn how to 'save' him from Hommlet and make him your friend. If 5.9 includes War of the Golden Skull, there are some options for evil parties in that too.
