When I try to start the front end I get the following message:

One of the game folders can't be accessed. Make sure that no other application uses any of the game folders, then try again. I rebooted but it still giving me the message. What gives?

I've only ever got that error when I've had one of the folders for the game open. Do you have the shortcut to the front-end on your desktop, or is it inside the folder you have ToEE installed to and you're opening it from there? If it's the latter, then it won't run because you have your ToEE folder open.

Icon is on the desktop & nothing else is running. Rebooting doesn't help.

If you have successfully run ToEEFE before, go into you ToEE root directory and delete TempleFrontend.ini.

If you haven't successfully run ToEEFE before, you shouldn't even have that file, but if you do, delete it and try running it again.

When you delete it, you will loose all your saved configuration for Front End, but it might help.

They are still there. When you delete that file, Front End will no longer "remember" which module you were playing and will by default load the "vanilla" game. Make sure to reconfigure Front End to start the Co8 4.0.0 mod, and re-check any of the check boxes you had checked before.

Actually, I believe the reason why he can't see his save games is the fact that they are saved separately for each module. Since he couldn't start the frontend, I assume he played the original module initially, so his old save games should be in modules/ToEE/Save.

You could theoretically copy the files from that folder to modules/Co8-4.0.0/Save, but I wouldn't recommend it... So many things have been changed in the mod pack that things might get a little bit icky.

There may also be a compatability issue which would prevent the saved game from loading...

I had to start a new game to test the Verbo-mod because the map cache in the old saved games was so much smaller than they should be in the new mod.

I'm just going to reinstall from scratch it's giving me too many error messages even though its letting me start a new game. Wasn't too fond of my party anyway.

I'm having this problem a lot now too- and I did a search for TempleFrontend.ini and my computer couldn't find it- I have done a complete uninstall/reinstall of ToEE, atari 1&2, and co8-4.0.0, but did keep around the old downloads for 4.0.1 ad Darmagons new spells and the portraits pack- so TempleFrontend.ini may still be hanging around somewhere- I just can't identify what that file is-- Allyx helped me a few days ago- but then it started doing it again! :(

Can anyone tell me what the size of this file should be? And the location?

    Thanks.

The TempleFrontend.ini file should be in your root directory (default path: C:\Program Files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil\TempleFrontend.ini).

To Krunch and Allyx, and to all who have helped in this thread- Thank you!

A "Clean Install" did the trick, and I am up and running again with no problems, for now!

I just needed a little reminding on how to do it!

    Thanks again.
