Hello all. I'm playing Co* 8.1 with Temple +. I have Fruella and Elmo on my team of six. With Elmo, I was able to start a conversation that convinced him to relinquish his gear, after leveling I think. With Fruella, I have no such convo option. In fact, I think the cleavers I'd collected from female bugbears dissapeared from her inventory when I chatted with her. I tried To enchant another great cleaver. It didn't seem like the enchantment held, I couldnt see them in the magic arms and armor window. I tried to test it out on random encounters. Somewhere along the line the enchanted version I made dissapeared (probably thrown and not retrieved), and she was back to her original cleaver. I should point out I have chosen to keep Fruella (rather than feeding her to frogs as most of her grooms do), due to the unique "returning" quality of her cleavers. I have given her feats to maximize throwing her cleavers. Anyone know whats wrong? Also, were I to somehow wrest her original cleaver from her...would it even retain its "returning" property?
Ok, I took the traditional route and let Fruella die in order to get access to her cleaver. After enchanting it(I did not change its name) and equipping her with it, its broken. The weapon took the enchantments fine. However it no longer returns when thrown. Its in the inventory of the last target. Anyone know anything about the NPC returning scripts. Furnok has one too. What is it keying on? Clearly neither item ID nor name. Does enchanting an item create a new, in game only proto?
I'm confused - you say the items used to return when thrown? I've never heard of such a thing. Sounds good by all means - proper Ultima-style magic axes - but it's news to me. Has this always happened?
All clevers are considered already enchanted, I think they are Keen and +1. I have been able to add Holy to them before.
Yes, you can achieve this by hacking the protos.tab file for weapons and ticking the "cannot drop" column in the row for +2 daggers which will make all +2 daggers returning. Furnok's dagger+2 has the "cannot drop" property whilst it is in Furnok's possession but does not when it is stolen or looted Whether Furnok imparts the "cannot drop" property to his +2 dagger or whether there are actually 2 manifestations of his +2 dagger depending on whether it is in his possession I don't know - I suspect the former because if the latter is the case there must exist an item code for a +2 dagger which returns and a great cleaver that returns when thrown and neither have been reported......
Ahhhh, ok... that must have been added to prevent simply murdering Fruella for her cleaver. there you go. I don't remember if I added it, but I was always hazy on the fine lines between NO_DROP, NO_LOOT, NO_DISPLAY etc... EDIT: Interestingly, I'm sure I saw a 'boomerang' flag in there somewhere but it didn't do anything.
