I just noticed that my ranger has been afforded the luxury of taking the dual weapons feat... that's all well and good, except she was already granted it for free because she's a dual weapons specialist ranger. If I were to take the feat (again) would that add an additional bonus to my dual weapon style or is this a glitch, and so doing that would just be a waste of a feat?
The only bonus you receive is that you will be able to fight with dual weapons while wearing heavy or medium armor. Those feats that come free along with standart ranger's career are only usable while wearing light or no armor.
It also doesn't count as actualy having the feat when you are selecting another feat. I was way dissaponted to find that the bard 1/ranger 2 couldn't select two-weapon fighting as a class bonus for making second level ranger and choose two weapon defense as his third level feat.
If that's the case, we have another bug. A ranger's special TWF should allow you to take all feats that have TWF as a pre req, with the limitation of wearing medium or heavy armor removes all ability to use those feats.
I discovered this because I took a bard for the Hommlet dialogue quests and leveled him up as a ranger to gain combat ability in preparation for the moathouse. Also because a ranger's skill selections complement a bard's skill set and a half-elf's inherent bonuses nicely. When I leveled him up as a ranger again I had been looking forward to taking two-weapon fighting for his second ranger level and two-weapon defense as his third level feat. It wouldn't let me select two weapon defense. He might have survived the big three ambush with a better armor class.
