    Hi all.

My party PCs and NPCs are driving me a bit nuts whenever I search/enter a door/attack/etc with their remarks. Everytime I do any specific action they make the same comment ("I'm on it!" for example). When I go to Options/Preferences and uncheck Party Banter (voice), then accept, it doesn't work. The box unchecks, but when I load a game they still comment and if I go back to Preferences the box is checked again. Turning speech volume down to zero in Options/Audio works, but then nobody at all in the game can be heard. Is this a glitch or am I missing something simple? Thanks for any help!

And I'm running the latest Co8 5.0.6 if it matters. Cheers!

Does it still do that if you save a game after you uncheck the party banter box? There are some things that ToEE is weird about, and they often have to do with audio issues. It could be that the setting is determined for an entire game by how it was set at the beginning. That does seem unlikely, but stranger things have happened.

btw, PCs are typically supposed to have five different acknowledgements so that they don't get old as fast ("Yes sir!" "I'm on it!" "I can do that." etc.) In the case of many of the new voice sets I ported from NWN there are fewer, because they simply didn't exist in that game.

I was looking at the dlg files and I see some interesting one-liners in the 12,000 range. Are all of them functional? I have never heard Ronald say "Holy shit, that hurt!" I am guessing that some of them are VERY context specific. Just curious, what other files trigger them?

No, those ones don't work alas: there was a long attempt to get them going (by yours truly) through .dll hacking, culminating in the first Playful NPCs mod which introdcued going-into-battle lines, death lines and some other comments at appropriate places. However a lot of the lines don't occur because those sections of the engine were simply never written, event though the dialogue was recorded in expectation: we had this confirmed by Steve Moret himself.

I saw something in Ronald's dlg that mentions True Resurrection and his parents. Does his becoming level 13 trigger that?

Does Y'dey's commentaries only occur the first time the party visits an area; consequently, if she was not present the first time, she will say nothing.
