One thing I've discovered, in ToEE\Data\Art\Meshes\PCs there is a subdirectory called 'ViewerReadyPCs', I'm not sure what the game uses this for, but the following trick works... For my summonable creatures mod, I needed a mesh for a Nixie, which is a small, green-skinned humanoid, So I copied the Human_Female folder, and renamed it Nixie_Female, the files in the folder were similarly re-named, and file references within the file likewise altered with a hex editor. I then created a reference to this in Meshes.mes, and altered the nixie's mesh refeference in the protos.tab to refer to this. And it works! So, this gives us another way to do things like NPC drow, duergar, etc. Charles
Just a quick pic to show a green humanoid (a nixie - enlarged a bit). Note that one flaw of my system is that I have no idea how to add hair (it ignores the hair colour/style entries in the protos.tab). Charles
hmmm...theres always a damn catch lol its got to be a mod somewhere in the hair stuff maybe more hex editing required
WHAT!?! A Naked Nixie? On THIS forum? :chairshot Ye gods, what HAS become of this place? Quick, cover up those boobies before Gaear sees them!
Firstly, on second thoughts I think this should be moved to Models and Textures... Hmm.. I'm not actually sure there is anyway this could be used for more PC race models, I'm not even sure what the 'viewerreadypcs' meshes are used for. Thanks!, I haven't noticed any problems, yet... Not yet (haven't had the time), but its worth a try, I might need to give it a PC race in the protos.tab entry, which, come to think of it, might fix the hair problem! OTOH, if I can get headwear to work, I might be able to 'fake' hair using a retextured helm or hat. Charles
Unfortuantely, I can't get either clothing or helmets to show up, yet, but weapons work fine, so it appears my technique is of limited application  . Charles
hehe, I new it wouldn't work. well I was 99% sure cos its the same problem I had with making drow. PM me and I'll tell you the work around
Thanks, PM sent. And I am? Oh, and I should really credit Cujo for the existing Nixie texture - I based it on one of his, dyed green. Now I just need to figure out how to do a sea-weed/sea-shell dress... Charles
