How do you use this? When I cast it, I get a spell object which I can pick up. It's very cute, but what do I do with it? How do you set the delay? As things stand, it goes off when the combat ends (I assume that it starts with the delay set at 5 rounds) and usually ends up hurting members of the party. I'm sure that there is something simple that I'm missing here, but some kind of instructions would be helpful. Other than that, great job!
Sorry for the slow response on this ... What version of the mod are you running, e.g. 5.0.0 or 5.0.0 with 5.0.x patch, etc.? I seem to recall there being something about a spell object when the spell was first made, but when I try it now there is no such thing. You just target the area like you would with regular fireball, click, wait x number of rounds, and it goes off. The number of rounds it is delayed is determined by a text file called 'delayed_blast_fireball' in ToEE/modules/Co8-5.0.0. I believe the default is 1 round, but you can set the number in that file to anywhere up to 5. There's also a way to set this in the console, but editing the above-referenced text file is probably the most transparent. If you're content to have it always be the same, you just set it and forget about it forever.
I was running 5.0.5. I had just assumed that there had to be some way to set it to no delay. I usually use fireballs to initiate combat, then let my grunts charge. Particularly effective when combined with maximise spell. You guys (and possibly gals) have done an incredible job making this thing not just playable, but replayable.
You could actually set it to 0, but I don't think that's quite instant either. I see you were right about the spell object btw. Funny how I found that out ... Had a high level test group standing around outside the Welcome Wench, and the sorcerer fired off a DBF into the open area there. Paying close attention, I spotted the little spell object 'bead' on the ground, thought "oh neat," and went to pick it up. My delay was set to 1 round, and about the time I realized what I'd done (just in time to turn ashen-faced, but not before I clicked for the sorcerer to head back in the direction of everybody else), KA-BOOM. So as an added thrill several party members were caught inside the blast radius, including a suggested gnoll who was killed outright. Someone shouted out the "Watch where you're aiming!" criticism, and then of course the survivors all started doing the YMCA dance together. Good times.
