I was wondering, do you guys think it is possible to hijack the weapon enchantment system to be used to make custom wonderous items. Bonuses should be improveable. If I loot gloves of dex +2, I COULD upgrade them in normal dnd... or I could CRAFT +2 dex gloves for everyone, and upgrade them one step at a time. Wonderous items should be enchanted from base items, not just out of nothing. (although i guess thats included in the cost). It will be nice to have alittle variety in how they look. The DMG rather specific instructions on those. Firstly, you can put more then one kind of enchantment on an item, but at an extra cost. then there are the affinities, which dictate additional costs (100% cost at affinitive location - belt of strength. 150% at non affinity location - goggles of strength. and 200% if it takes NO body slot - Hair locket / Ioun stone of strength: Those stack with similar items, as long as each provides a different bonus.
Actually it works that, if you have, for example, Headband of Intellect +4, you can't upgrade it to obtain a HoI +6 but, if you want a HoI +6 you may only craft a new one. Weapons and armors may instead be upgraded regulary, for example if you have a Shield +1, you may enchant it so that it becomes +3.
yap, furthermore, you cannot choose WHICH item to enchant... I want my gloves of +6 dex for my fighter to be CHAINMAIL gloves not LEATHER gloves... and I want black leather ones for my rogue
