I have installed the game 5 or 6 times and always get a CRC error saying the Toee3.dat file does not match what is in the cab file. I hit retry a dozen times then ignore. The game will start, initial splash screens, build data objects then crash (of course) to windows. I have copied the files from cd to disk and same prob. I have done the patch 1, patch2, user file 3.0.4 (??) and the temple.zip updates and still have a problem. Sooooo, i think my problem lies in a corrupt or incomplete toee3.dat file. If this file does not change after install , can someone post a link to one i can download. If it does change, does anyone have the game in the same state as i ? Thanks in advance
ToEE3.dat is a part of the original game package, so it would be illegal to post it as a download in the Internet. If you have a problem with ToEE3.dat file (bad CD, corrupt installation or whatever) I guess it might be a good idea for you to contact a retailer you bought ToEE from and ask for a replacement CD. - Agetian
Did anyone else have the CRC problem I'm not sure its a bad CD, i thought i found the installation somewhere on the net and tried that too. I was curious if the encryption schema is having a problem with something on my system...maybe need new cd drivers ? The CD was mail order and i really don't want to wait another 2 weeks.. but 2 weeks i guess is better than not playing at all Part of the reason i think it might be me is that i tried to load the game sacred last week and although the game loads, it bombs on the cd check. My rig while not bleeding edge is definately on the cutting edge any other thoughts or shall i just contact the shipper ?
