Console teleporting Problems and crash

    Are there any known reasons why the console teleport command would crash the game in one specific saved game alone? (ie in another saved game I can use the exact same command to teleport perfectly well.) The saved game in question does not appear to be corrupted in any way shape or form.

    This is happening on level 2 of the temple with the 2 merchant prisoners. Dialogue options to teleport are similarly affected by a crash after a slight system hang.

    If it happened just from the dialogue, that could just be that there's a little bug somewhere. But for the console command to have the same effect is strange when it has no such effect on other save games.

    If your trying to go to Verbobonc, it doesn't work. That should have been fixed in 5.0Final. Use the female prisoner instead. There is no rhyme or reason to save and console bugs. I do know the game.fade_and_teleport works good.

    Could you explain please Wizgeorge :) I read that to mean that it is a known issue that the merchants .py script doesn't function as it should do but am very confused as to why.


    edit: thanks Wizgeorge, but we're talking at crosspurposes. :) The merchants I am referring to are the ones on level 2 of the temple.

    I'm missing something here. Exactly where are these merchants in lvl2? Exactly what are you trying to do? The auto-teleports to the moathouse, emiry meadows, deklo grove, etc are built into the .dlg files. Either a teleport spell/scroll or a game.fade_and_teleport command has to be used. I've never seen game.fade_and_teleport ever fail. I'm kind of confused as to what is up here.

    Ok, just did the thing with the merchants and went to Verbobonc, and went to the travel agent and came back to Hommlet. Everything seemed to work. I forgot the merchants were in the cell next to the princess and sir juffers.

    I have seen a teleport fail via console command which is why I'm asking what could be the reasons/conditions for it failing in one specific save game with no evidence of corruption :)

    The two merchant prisoners are heroic merchant and sad merchant. They are present in v5 full. They are in the same room as another prisoner who offers to join the party.

    I have a save game with a very unusual bug which I outlined in the OP which is why you are probably confused, but not quite as confused as me right now :)
