Just upgraded to a new computer and decided to try TOEE again. Seems to work fine but I've found that I can't access the console screen. Any suggestions? I've gone from using Windows XP to Windows 7, would that make a difference? Thanks
Is this something previously not seen by anyone in the community? I hit shift ~ and nothing happens. Help.
Patch 2 was installed and seemed to go in just fine. Do you think that's where the issue might be? I'm starting to think of a fresh install to see if it works after that.
Getting some odd stuff now. I deleted and reloaded everything. Kept getting CTD before the intro movie. Finally got it to work by disabling it. When I close the program, I get an error message that TOEE.exe has stopped working and I need to click OK to finish closing the program. Still no console access.
The console comes with Atari patch2 so try an install with just patch2 and nothing else. Are you using a no-cd crack? There's no reason the console shouldn't open with patch2, except a bad download or bad cd.
Thanks guys for the info on patch2. Not sure why its not working but I'll keep trying. At least I know where to focus. Also got a corrupted save error so I think I better start from scratch again.
Uninstalled eveything and reinstalled according to instructions. Still no consule capability. Is there a specific file I should look for in the root directory to insure that Patch 2 is going in correctly?
Flak- I may be out in left field here, but since I see nothing else is working, lets rule this out... Are you in America? I have read elsewhere in this forum that in other countries, or keyboards set in an internatinal fashion or foreign way have issues with the Tidle key. If so, search the forums for that, wish I could point out the thread exactly, but I can't. IIRC ShiningTed had the answer...
Thanks maalri, Hadn't thought of that one. I do have a western keyboard, but I take a look at the settings.
i am experiencing the same issue! has anyone had any luck determining the cause? i cannot access the console (i am using Vista Home Premium on a HP laptop) and seems like everything is installed correctly... I am thinking that maybe one needs to set "properties" when installing the patch - maybe it seems to install correctly but does not in Vista because of it's ever-so-helpful blocking of each thing you attempt to do. LOL i also as the previous poster seem to encounter random CTD and corrupted saves, which have been getting progressively more frequent... i have a party around level 4-5 that just got to Nulb... any help would be greatly appreciated! seems like it would be a Vista related issue... I followed all the Co8 instructions installing. I can furninsh more technical information if needed. By the way, these mods are GREAT and looking forward to the upcoming 5.8 version this month! Thanks!
IIRC if you're not running ToEE with any Co8 stuff, just the offical stuff, to get the console to work you have to edit the path in your shortcut you have to add -console with a space infront of the - as seen below
thanks Cujo but i am running with all available and current Co8 mods installed, as well as official Atari patch 1 & 2. currently playing the 5.7.2 Beta mod. I still cannot get the console to work using all info i have been able to find on this site. the tilde key is just plain unresponsive, unless i hold control and try to tap it, then TOEE gives a dialog saying the key cannot be used. shift and ~ does not work in any way. *sigh* as some others have posted, i think there may be some Vista related issue causing this??? any ideas?
