    Hello everyone,

    is there a way to add Composite Longbows of Str +20/+22/+24/etc, in the game?

    Please note that I do not have/use any mod-toolsets. Ty

    Is this a firm statement of principle?

    I hope not, because you have three choices

    1. edit protos.tab; highly NOT recommended as this will eventually completely corrupt the file
    2. overwrite your protos.tab file using the RudysItemMod0.8 mod found on this site (which includes the items you want)
    3. Extend the protos.tab file using Templeplus and an overrides file.

    With options 1 and 3 you will also have to add corresponding lines to your description.mes file (or its extension)

    Ty Pygmy, though I think I am doing something wrong.

    So, I downloaded the RudysItemMod0.8 mod found in this site (link provided). I then took the lines that add the new composite long/shortbow weapons, as follows:

    Description:

    {4351}{Masterwork Composite Longbow, Str 20}
    {4352}{Masterwork Composite Longbow, Str 22}
    {4353}{Masterwork Composite Longbow, Str 24}
    {4354}{Masterwork Composite Longbow, Str 26}
    {4355}{Masterwork Composite Shortbow, Str 16}
    {4356}{Masterwork Composite Shortbow, Str 18}
    {4357}{Masterwork Composite Shortbow, Str 20}
    {4358}{Masterwork Composite Shortbow, Str 22}

    I only neat-picked the new composite bows for the game, created short protos.tab, long_description.mes and description.mes (attached to this file) and slapped them into overrides > data, with the mod_specs.json to accompany the data folder.

    Temple+ and the command: give #### doesn't work, so I am missing something. At least the game doesn't crush lol

    I have the suspicion that I am not extending my protos file correctly.

    Firstly, data doesn't exist for overrides; the structure is overrides\rules\protos\mynewfile.tab
    Note protos is a now a subdirectory of rules and mynewfile can be whatever you want.

    Secondly, the names of your bows need to go in column 2 of mynewfile.tab

    Thirdly the format for extending description.mes is:
    overrides\mes\description_ext\mynewfile.mes

    I must confess I have never tried extending long_description.mes but would suggest
    overrides\mes\long_description_ext\mylongnewfile.mes

    I did almost everything you told me and it worked! I am so excited, I can finally modify weapons. From what I saw, in Rudysitemsmod, I could also add items with unique icons, I'll just need to mimic/reverse engineer what he did with the potions.

    I did not follow your advice below, cause I don't see any immediate negative effects into the game.
