    Hello,

I'm a new player both to ToEE and Co8, having recently purchased the game from GOG, so if you could bare with me for a few moments and don't roll your eyes too far that would be good. My only general question is the difference between 'vanilla' ToEE (the module) in Front-End, and the Circle of Eight modpack. Does Co8 contain all the vanilla content with the original game, just with added extra content and bug fixes? As a new ToEE player, how would you peoples recommend I play for the first time, just activate the Eight of Circle modpack in the Front-End and play normally through the game?

    Thanks.

    Welcome to the site

The ToEE game in your start-up menu is exactly the game you bought from GOG with all the glitches that contains [I imagine you can still use the Front-End options as regard no. of pcs and level limit though I can't imagine why you'd want to....]

7.2.0 is Co8's best shot to date at producing what Atari were aiming to produce - best bug elimination to date. 7.2.0 also contains significantly greater rules conformity (particularly as regards crafting ) than the Vanilla game.

7.2.0NC (and all other NC modpacks contain new encounters/quests)

I would try 7.2.0 the first couple of times as although all the new content is fabulous it means that the party is too high a level when it reaches the temple. [Moving all the new stuff to after the temple is on Gaear's to do list somewhere]

Actually I think this topic might fit better in Discussion

i also have a newb question and in lieu of creating another newb post i will ask it here. the toee rules state druids and clerics can spontaneous cast spells to either summoning (druid) or healing (good cleric). how do i do that in the toee game?

Click on the spell in a radial menu + SHIFT.

Another newb question here. I got 7.0.0 and TOEE GOG version. So I installed it and everything seems to be working fine. But here's the problem...

    I opened the character screen,

    clicked on the spell tab,

clicked on the metamagic feat (I got empower metamagic) on magic missile, setting the empower spell,

the spell is now shown on my spell level 3 list, I right click on it to add it to my prepared spell list,

I rested for 8 hours, and voila, it's gone, except for the normal spell (non-metamagic one)...

Should I just wait for the 8.0.0 one?

It should work, although empowering a magic missile seems like a waste of a third level spell.

Should I wait till higher level to try again or should I restart from beginning?

I would not wait at all, but try it with some different spells. Try Burning Hands, Shocking Grasp, or Chill Touch, much more effective use of the feat. When you get 5th level spells, then use it on Fireball for better results.

In my experience, once you maximize a spell, it will be available on the higher level list throughout the game play. It might go away if you quit to desktop, but even then I think it sticks around.

Alright, thanks, I'll try again, but if the problem persists, I think I'll just wait for 8.0.0 version.

Note : Burning Hands? I already picked Ray of Enfeeblement...
