So a wizard (or cleric/druid?) must have Evocation not prohibited to craft cold? Also can't you just apply Holy twice and do the same? Also, this make it seem that casters are just holy, axiomatic and cold weapon enchanting slaves and specialists to martials since you have to give both Cleric and Wizard (and Druid?) "Craft Magic Arms and Armor". Because of this, Evocation (and Enchantment) seem to be better than what the DnD 3.5 guides say they are, no? Also at what level cap does the game not feel cheesy in co8 with new content? I feel like all the interesting stuff are at 20 but the balance might just be up to 10. Also does a Dwarven Cleric with Dwarven Waraxe still do more damage than a Human with Morningstar since the weapon's smaller with Dwarves (or are smaller weapons something you have to buy or find and a weapon does not automatically become small if equipped by a small race?) and what does Skill Focus (Spellcraft) do? Also, Are Tiny Rapiers the only Tiny weapons?
I could be wrong, but I think only halflings (and maybe gnomes?) are penalized/prohibited for using "normal" sized weapons. I can say for sure that a halfling using the finesse weapon feat won't be able to do it with a normal short sword, and there are halfing-sized versions of weapons, though I can't remember in ToEE proper whether there are versions of all weapons or only some.
In ToEE, Small and smaller creatures normally need 2 hands to use a 1-handed weapon for a Medium creature. That's my present understanding. I barely used 'em.
Does a level cap of 10 mean you end at level 9 in Temple+? That's confusing since it's default and i thought normal ToEE ends at level 10, no? @dolio So both Frost and Icy Burst equally give a weapon that "cold iron" property, right? But you can't combine Holy, Axiomatic and Icy Burst but can combine Holy, Axiomatic and Frost?
Level cap of N means you can get to level N, but not higher. So 10 works like the original game. I think frost and icy burst probably both count for bypassing damage reduction, but I haven't checked. I'm not sure whether you can have Holy, Axiomatic, Icy Burst. It's no problem by the SRD, but maybe ToEE has a lower cap for how many bonuses you can get. Having all three of those would be very expensive, though. Since it also needs to be +1 first, you would have to pay for the equivalent of +7 (which is like 100,000 gp, or 50,000 if you're crafting, I guess). Personally, I wouldn't bother with the burst enchantments. I don't think a little extra damage on criticals is worth the cost.
Agreed, the burst enchantments aren't worth the cost. Crafting +7 equivalent weapons isn't possible with TOEE. Vanilla cap might've been +3 equivalent; C08/Temple+ I believe raised that to +5 equivalent. At some point because of the ridiculous amounts of gold and xp you can get from this game, heavy crafting stuff like this gets way too cheesy. I mean, the game already throws Scather (and possibly Fragarach) at you. Soooo cheesy. Much more interesting to learn to master the actual gameplay and utilize it to full potential to beat foes (who are at a significant disadvantage of running pretty limited scripts and can never learn to get better at this game). Totally unrelated thought... game designers should use AI to design combat 'AI' scripts for CRPGS that 'evolve' as you play to counter player's playstyle/skill level...
Better to do Holy, Frost, axiomatic if you wish. Saves more slots for extra +plus. to the weapon. Though I prefer just Holy and Frost to cut down crafting costs.
Do I fight Otis no matter what after I steal his chest things? And what books does Vigor, Lesser and Ray of Clumsiness come from? They don't seem to be in the core rulebooks and I thought ToEE was core only.
Wdym save them? Isn't leaving in chest essentially forfeiting stealing them? When do i get the opportunity to steal them back then? I've stopped equipping the items and he still attacked me. All the DnD 3.5 and Pathfinder 1e guides seem link-rotted to the core.
