(all right, changing the title didn't work so...there be spoilage ahead)
(Thanks to whoever fixed it for me. Orewa baka desuyo!)

...to hells with Balor, it was the town quests that almost killed my party! Not from any monsters or spells, but rather from nigh hurling my laptop off the balcony due to the sheer need to relieve my boredom! (sigh)...

I'm curious about what to do now. The fighter, ranger, rogue/fighter, sorcerer, cleric, Elmo and the little woman (all 14th) are loitering around the steps of the Welcome Wench, throwing pebbles at one another and contemplating the next move. Don't really wanna fight the Fungi Queen yet, but also tired of their little pet project of upping the levels of all the random NPC's they've met (currently Spug at 10th).

Please, is there anyone else to take on or should I let Elmo buy the beer and call it a year...

If you installed co8 5.0.0 you can go to verbobonc,
hickory branch, see the moathouse respawn... that's
    pretty much it.

Been to Verbtown a couple times as an escort, but not since. Can I back without having to rescue someone? Already took out the drow, the Scarlett Brotherhood and the Hextor people (left the little acolyte to wonder why no one had been coming back downstairs).

Dealt with the Moathouse and the Son of Moathouse.

Hickory Branch?? (sparkles of excitment as all the PCs look at you) How do I get there??

Mark this thread as spoiler. ;)

Have you killed the dragon in Verbobonc? Well,
if you have 5.0.2 at least you should be able to
travel to Verbobonc from the worldmap. Anyway
to get to Hickory you have to go to Mona in Nulb
and help her retrieve the Orb of Sah. Once you've
done that you ask her for a reward, that is a challenging
adveture. Well, if you're level 14 this won't be a challenge
for you but hey, a that's still something new. I've heard
some rumors about a vampire in Hommlet but never actually
seen one. Oh, and there's the orc cave, ask Kenter Nevetts,
it will be a slaughter for those orcs. ;P

...heh. Opps. Thanks for the marking suggestion and your hints, Maggit.

Yeah, haven't dl'ed any packs beyond 5.0.0 for fear that I may have to start anew. I'm pretty sure I have already done the Orb quest. Vaguely remember it as it was a bit ago. Don't believe I ever asked about a reward though. Just bought a girl instead. Reward in and of itself!

Yup, the world sans one white dragon and offspring. Hoping the Allyx, in his infinite benevolence, will find the world some more dragons.

All I have been doing of late is hanging out in the Smidhal's (spelling?) room, resting and waiting for the locals to "ambush" me. I have Too. Much. Time.

Orc caves...the same as the ogre caves? Read somethign about the orcs being "prespawn" within the ogre caves. Not exactly sure what "prespawn" means though.

    Smigmal.

And the Orc Caves 'pre-spawn' means that the orcs spawn in the same cave before the ogres. But, I think you can still do the orc caves quest even after doing the ogre caves quest.

But, it'll be a breeze for you. It was a quest from Hommlet.

Yes, if you download any packs newer than 5.0.0, you'll have to start anew. But, at this point, there's little else you can do besides moving on.

Damn, and I was hoping to drag this out for the characters. Oh well. If the Queen Bitch must die, then so be it. Really, is there no way to reach level 20? I have pit my party against every baddie I could find, blew hours resting in the dungeon picking off the dregs and still only 14th. Balor was the last bit of fun, but mostly just sitting around eating beans, trying to get myself shot...stabbed, whatever. Where's my badge...

a new mod, what do you say AxeThrower, eh? We all love pirates

Wish I had any knowledge of modding...or computer skills for that matter. Nope, just an ideas guy with little to back it up. But, I do agree. Can never go wrong with Pirates...unless they are multiclassed pirate/dentists. Then they have to die. Them and those singsong voiced bards. Straight out of the gene pool!

The deed is done. Shockingly easy. I had such a harder time with Balor and Balor Jr. No one died in either battle, but at least there fear that someone would in the Balor one. With Z, I think the lowest I got was 86/128hp on my rog/ftr...want more.

Out of curiosity; what level did you find the Balor easy at? I found him rather trying at level 10 with 8 pcs, took me heaps of tries.

Do smaller, higher level parties have an easier time because of attack bonuses and such?

I use MaxHPs for all three of its options...done at the very end of installing ToEE. This way, all PCs and all NPCs and all monsters have maximum HPs. This definitely makes playing ToEE more challenging.

I took him on at level 11/12, but I don't think I would call him easy. I had eight PCs in my party as well, but only used Spugnoir as a support caster then ran him the hell out of there. Only way that made it doable was Greater Heroism for all physical attackers and waiting for both Balors to cast their fear spells before any summoning. As far as using the magical sword of unbalancing gameplay, I have so far refuse. Gave Scather to my sorcerer leader when I first received it.

I have to say though, the first time Balor exploded, he took out my two main fighters. Here I was all jubilent and then KA-BOOM!...Reload. I guess where swords of death are game breaking, precognition is all right.
