Good pick-up Necro. Out of curiosity, what have you got against fire toads anyway?
Necroticpus, what spell did your wizard cast when he did a staggering 266 HP damage with a single attack?
My best hunch on what sound is being played when I heard that one-off sound when I appeared on the Hommlet map near the Church of St. Cuthbert is that it sounds very similar to or it may in fact be the sound that you hear when you watch the cutscene of the Temple of Elemental Evil when you first arrive at the Temple map.
Why has the maximum PC/NPC ratio been changed from 1/7 (in the Circle of Eight Modpack 5.8.1 NC) to 3/5 (in the Circle of Eight Modpack 5.9.x NC)? I wanted to have 1 PC and 7 NPCs in my next playthrough of the game but I can no longer do this, and 5 NPCs doesn't seem like enough when players want to play the game with mostly NPCs in their party.
Does the player's party get XP for undead that are destroyed by Turn Undead? If not, then is the player's party supposed to get XP for undead that are destroyed by Turn Undead?
I can't remember if mmonagle has already stated the following, but one of the gnolls in the bottom corner of level 1 of the Temple of Elemental Evil has 2 Grey Leather Armors when you loot his corpse (see screenshot below for location of the gnolls):
I have a cleric with greater turning and always get XP for destroyed undead. Except for lower level undead when I was higher levels, but this is the same for any low level monsters you kill.
It's worth 35,000 gp, which is RAW per the SRD.
You can affect that by ordering you party as best suits avoiding that problem along the bottom of the screen, and then switching them around in party formations.
It's scripted to approximate starting gold per the PHB. Each class is supposed to start with gold within a set range, and then you're also given some extra pocket money. The ranges vary for all, so it can be different all the time. It's not working right if you always start with 500 gold.
That's as expected - they're not currently identified. We made that blank instead of saying "Teh unknown area!"
Huh, the game's +1 to +5 shields were all priced at the value of a +1 steel shield. Fixed. Also will call them wooden or steel, depending on what they are.
According to protos.tab, flails are metal and heavy flails are wooden. The SRD doesn't seem to say what they are specifically.
I'll look into it.
I'll look into it.
Studies have shown that it doesn't matter what you do; people generally don't read stuff.
He can't fit through the doorway. In order to change that, we'd have to change the map graphics and sectoring there ... not feeling really inclined, especially since this is apparently by design.
I have no intention to change that at this time.
Not a ripple ... it-is-in-the-jpeg-image.
Are you sure it was 1/7 in 5.8? I've never done anything to alter those figures.
When the pc patch counter first came out you could do 1/7. But it was very unstable and it was later learned that anything less than 3 was also unstable. It was set to 3/5 a long time ago. You can still play with 1 pc but there's not 5 good npc's to use. Marginal stats, limitations, etc.
We have a "Renaissance Fair" in town this time of year for the past 16 years. Jousting, sword fights, giant turkey legs to eat, that sort of this. One of the vendors there has been participating for years now and makes and sell arms and armor right there, you can watch him hammer out a sword or a battle axe, kind of our own Brother Smythe. Last year he had for sale a "light flail", wooden handle with metal cap attached to a short chain, that was attached to a grapefruit sized ball with spikes, your classic flail. He also had a large wooden handle (maybe 4' long) flail joined by one chain link to another square wooden (4" x 4" x 2 feet) that had wooden spikes driven through the wood every 4 inches. Both were quite cool, as were his many swords, axes, even a swiss halberd.
But, anyway, this may be justification to the different materials for the weapons.
Are you zombie-door RE guys using the gog version by any chance?
No, same disks from game's debut.
Cmon man it's not like there isn't a way around it. You can avoid dialogue, put a summon/dominated critter in that spot, etc. Plus, you'll probably get more XP from the battle than you'll lose from dying anyway, restoration considered.
@Gaear: Just to add to that "door encounter" problem; I just had a RE of two lizardmen masquerading as "doors". The glitch is just the description in the RE box, the encounter is just two regular lizardmen.
Well, they aren't actually doing the coup de grace but they are attacking characters when they are prone and negative to finish them off. Especially the trolls.
I got a ripple just before experiencing jerkstop near the signpost:
Sweet. I was testing you to see how you would respond. I knew it wasn't a ripple and wanted to make sure that you didn't think it was one. We're on the same page. oke:
