I have 2 mages in the group, and they have been sharing spells. However, I cannot scribe 6th level or higher spells. Is this a glitch?
Spells like circle of death, for example, don't even show up on the list of spells my mage can scribe.
I thought that like potion's and wand's.There was an upper limit that "mere mortal's"(pc's) could scribe.
According to the SRD you can scribe any spell that you know, although you must have the gold and xp to spend while making it. Here's what it says about the feat Scribe Scroll, exactly; You can create a scroll of any spell that you know. Scribing a scroll takes one day for each 1,000 gp in its base price. The base price of a scroll is its spell level × its caster level × 25 gp. To scribe a scroll, you must spend 1/25 of this base price in XP and use up raw materials costing one-half of this base price. I think the higher level scribing was not taken into consideration when the content was added that raises the PC levels past the default level of 10 the game was first designed to be. I see that a lot of work went into adding and fleshing out the higher level spells, (which is freaking awesome!) but I doubt the scribe scroll aspect was considered. This hasn't affected the creation of wands due to the 4th level spell and lower restriction placed on this feat by the SRD.
Okay, in order to be able to scribe a spell, there has to be a proto for that scroll in protos.tab. This hasn't always been reliably done for our custom spells - for example, I see that there's no scroll of Circle of Death. However, it has been done for some, so I don't think you're experiencing a defect wherein the mechanism somehow stops working for high level spells. Looking at our custom spells, I see the following don't have scroll protos: Circle of Death Dispel Magic, Greater Eyebite Undeath to Death Hold Person, Mass Insanity Power Word Blind Charm Monster, Mass Horrid Wilting Polar Ray Power Word Stun Hold Monster, Mass Power Word Kill Heroes' Feast Blasphemy Holy Word Miracle Warp Wood So is it possible that it's only among these that you've failed? We'll add them at any rate. Thanks for the heads-up, I probably would never have thought to check.
Is there a reason the scroll of Miracle was made to cost an additional 25,000 gp more than the base cost of 3825 gp? The full cost is currently 28,825 gp.
Would it have to do with the material component effect? I've never looked at how it is implemented in ToEE but the SRD says if it is used to replicate another spell which has a high cost material component, you have to provide that component. (In ToEE terms, pay the gp cost of it.)
If it were, the cost would have to be paid on a spell by spell basis depending on the cost of the chosen spell, not an arbitrary and pricey cost for any spell using this method.
