I put ToEE on my new computer and came here to put the Co8 mod pack on. I got through all of the downloads and installations, but when I try to activate the module, it freezes up. When it eventually closes, I try to reclick on it but i end up getting this message: "You must open ToEEFE-X from the ToEE root folder." I have all of the patches installed properly and I followed the directions to the T. What do I do? I am running on Vista btw.
When you say you followed all the install directions, did you make sure you extracted the co8 mod into the toee root folder with winrar? you didnt extract it elsewhere then move it in later? If you did, try re-extracting the mod into the folder directly (making sure replace files is checked). Did you do patch1 -> patch2? or just patch2? Some people have issues if they skip #1 apparently - i dont personally, but... Generally theres a bit of a juggle involved when i reinstall toee, i've had to start using the no-cd crack in my latest install, as toee's secu-rom bluescreens me now for some reason.
Well the "You must open ToEEFE-X from the ToEE root folder." message implies that theres some kind of conflict from where you are running ToEEFE from: is the file being run from the ToEE main directory? if not there was probably an issue with where you are extracting the file. Also, as always, with vista, unless you run programs as administrator, expect them to fail constantly are you running the program as an administrator? i run any game that is oldish, or any game that uses the internet, my graphics card, ram cpu, or monitor, in this mode usually ;p bloody vista grarrrrr (right click toeefe-x shortcut on desktop -> properties -> compatability -> check 'run this program as an administrator)
That was the problem. The game can take a LOOOOOOOOONG time to activate - if it says "not responding", thats normal, just leave it alone. Reinstall the patch and reactivate and hopefully you will be right.
