I've been working on some portraits for a future campaign (mostly converting Boris and some Frazettas for a all human parties) and realized that several portraits would be wasted because the game has a default 'light' skin tone as opposed to choices. I would really like other choices for the character: a 'dark' tone for the Nubian Warrior, a hint of yellow for the Frazetta Girl, tans, browns and pale albino tones. It's all about adding flavor and replayability This is probably hardcoded into the game, but is there any workaround? Could this be implemented in a later NC release?
That stuff is indeed hardcoded and currently out of our reach. Plus, you'd need to add races ('dark-skinned elf,' 'light-skinned half-orc,' etc.), presumably, as opposed to replacing them, and that's definitely out of our reach. There is no skin-chooser step in character creation and we can't add one.
Thanks for the update, Gaear. What I had envisioned was the addition of Mirror in the 'shop' at the beginning of the game that works as HSL sliders for skin tones. Too bad that possibility is currently out of reach.
That was one thing I liked about NWN/ BG games. It allowed you to configure your characters quite a bit.
