Here are some sounds for scorching ray, i think they work well but perhaps you wanna check them out, I am happy to put new ones in if necessary (the spell currently is silent).

    http://www.savefile.com/files/1048579

Point them at the folder Program Files\Atari\Temple of Elemental Evil\data and unzip.

Cookie WITH BELGIAN WHITE CHOC CHIPS for anyone who can tell me what the sound actually is :drunk:

Good thinking, may use that later, but not even close.

Seen the deleted scene where the Sandpeople bring one down, and the jawas run out to scavenge it, and the tuskens start to snipe the jawas? :evil_laug:

Sorry Shining - I'm in the middle of moving house so not able to play right now. Will definitely be using it when I am not reduced to using the laptop for PC needs

I am glad you are fixing sounds for the game, but I can't say as I think this one is appropriate. It just doesn't sound right to me, but I have been playing with the sound off for a while.

I don't like the hit noise, it doesn't sound like they got scorched or rayed, sounds like they got doored.

I didn't like the sounds either, so I swapped them out for produce_flame_proj and produce_flame_hit from TOEE2.dat! but good work with the coding never the less.

Yeah, the important thing is that Ted figured out how to do it. And for that, he is a fine fellow.

Ted, go ahead and give yourself one of your cookies. :D

The work on the sounds is great, but the actual sounds, well...reminds one of some kind of mini missile streaking out to smack into some poor dude's armor....which does sound more like ooomph than ouch. It's a blunt weapon hit from IWD or BG, and I'm not sure what the little rocket sound is...a flaming arrow sound, perhaps?

    Give 'er another go, Ted!

Errr charming Spike, welcome home :p Hey u musta missed the whole move, we were on this weird board for a while and fund-raising to get back up on here and Exitium posted a fund-rasing appeal at ummm RPG Codex or whatever its called. Anyways Volourn said something along the lines of good riddance to Co8 and more than double what we needed flooded in immediately from people anxious to spite him! :evil_laug :joy:

Ok as for the rest of u ungrateful swine, d'l the file below and stick it in place of the other snd_spells.mes (or for those who haven't d/led it, just grab this file & put it in the data/sound folder) and it will play the 'searing light' sound instead. Its not tested but its a change of 2 lines, idiot-proof - if someone could test it and say yay or nay i'd appreciate it, my ToEE hard drive is now in a seperate place to my PC for a few days. O and 'searing light' was Gaear's idea so kudos to him, good thinking. :)

As for what was the sound? Close, Lord Spike: it was an artillery shell from a WWII mod of Civ II, with the 'whump' of the artillery piece firing and the kaboom of it landing taken off each end.

Hm, lurked over at the Codex a bit to investigate this Volourn rumor . . .

Damn him to hell, it's true! :punch: . . . although he said he didn't hate Co8, just figured ToEE was dead, etc., etc. A familiar refrain from the Atari boards.

More importantly, I discovered that Sheriff05, who posts on our boards as well, was a significant contributor to the cause. (And didn't even cry about it or nothin' either!) I think he supplied the final downstroke that sealed the deal.

    Much appreciated, Sheriff. :wavey:

    /shout out
