As the title says I've got an issue with chests/light sources flickering, sometimes I have a full person and blue circle underneath them and sometimes just a circle with no person. I'm running an older PC with XP on it, nvidia graphics card (I'll try to figure out which one if it'll help) and I think I've got enough RAM and things to run the game on this system. I'm kind of new to all this so don't laugh too hard. I did some searching a day or so ago and remember reading that I needed to install an older version of my graphics driver (now I have no idea where that post went or what model driver I needed) and something about running the game as an administrator (no clue how to do that). Any help would be appreciated. I played this game years ago and finally got fed up with all the bugs and tossed it. I've downloaded it now from GOG, installed the CO8 Mod pack 7.3.3 NC (correct?) and am just itching to play this. Thanks for your time and assistance. Richard.
Thanks! I finally got around to getting the graphics drivers taken care of and it works!!! I haven't had time to play yet due to work but I am hopeful. I do have two new questions though. 1) Does it matter which desktop icon I use to run the game? I've got a TOEE one, one that says Circle of Eight modpack and another that says ToEE Front End X. 2) My version reads as only 7.3.0nc and I've activated the 7.3.3nc add on already. Is there a trick that I've missed? Thank you all again.
Hello Junkers You want to use the ToEE Front-End-X icon on your desktop to start Co8 new content. I don't believe patch 7.3.3 updates the starting screen - I installed patches 7.3.1, 7.3.2 and 7.3.3 as they came out and my start screen still reads 7.3.2 Seeing this start screen means your 99.99% of the way to sorting things out as most XP/Vista/Windows 7/anti-virus idiosyncracies have frustrated new players long before this....
Ok so far so good. Everything seems to be working and the graphics are a real treat to the eye. Finally had a day off, well a half day anyway, after working 14 hrs a day straight through since July 4th and had a little time to get into the game. I've been in Hommlet (spelling?) for the past hour or so and had forgotten how much information there was to this game. It's going to take me a while to get back into the swing of it. Heck the last time I played this I can only remember getting killed by a giant snake at one point and then two huge crayfish at another before the glitches ran me off. It'll be a miracle if I make it to level 5. I did get to spend a while building a well rounded, I hope, group of folks. Wish me luck!
