So if you were to do a Baldur's Gate style run through (ie. party size 1-7, with one player character and any NPCs, what class would you pick?

Just curios what people think, while waiting for the great and drool-inducing update...

Note: condensed a few of the similar classes since only 10 options are allowed.

I vote for bard... rogue second... why?
because I can pick up a level 1 cleric, wizard, fighter, etc in the town... the problem is that conversations are all done by a "core" party member in the game. this means your party face, the guy with all the social skills, needs to be the 1 of the 1-7...

So bard first, rogue second. because bard is the best party face, and rogue is the second best... then you just pick up everyone else as level1 NPC and manually level them to taste.

Voted Sorcerer, Cleric or Bard. Druid could also be good, but you get a druid NPC early on so no reason to do so. Cleric only if EVIL (or Neutral with rebuke), for added bone/meat shields. Bard and Sor both have high CHA and make excellent talkers. Both can make good buffers for the rest of the party. Better yet, give Sor Augmented Summoning and have him rock summons.

Bard and sorcs both have good cha (as both cast off of cha), but bard has much more skill points AND the social skills are all available to a bard as class skills...
the sorcerer will have to take them cross class.. (And only a few of them, 2+int mod skill points per level, and 1 has to go into concentration and 1 has to go into spellcraft... and an additional one into tumble)

but you can make a sorcerer into a party face if you try hard enough

I went with rogue because they are good face charecters and are better fighters and have more useful skills than a bard. I would actually choose a bard in BG because they can learn spells and inter-personal communications are not as important.

Well, I voted that I wouldn't do this - trying to play ToEE like it's Baldur's Gate is probably less fun than trying to play ToEE like it's ToEE - but if I did, I'd pick cleric or bard.
