I've just cleared out the moathouse and somehow managed to survive but now I have all this damn loot. I've carted it all the way to town, but is there REALLY no quicker way of selling items than dragging each one individually to the merchant? It's so tedious!
Nope, sorry dude, ... that's the only way to do it. You can use the ExtraPlanar chest to carry more of it, but click-and-drag is the interface that TOEE has for buying and selling.
GA gives a great clue to what can happen if you sell/drop something too quickly. I do not think any quick sell will happen any time soon. if you are not wanting to do the drag and sell, you can always console some money and leave the cheap stuff behind. Do as you will with that.
I tend to console in money as well these days as I find that aspect of the game very tedious. The only problem is that I don't always have the discipline to stick with small amounts.
Ah, you miss the role playing aspect of this. Haggling over every rusty sword, battered leather helmet, and blood splattered bobble. Hey Bing, look at this fine set of goblin leather armor. Hardy used, and with a fresh coat of goblin blood preservative on it. How much will you give me for it, and these 28 other sets?
Regarding selling weapons (and good in general); where are the best places to sell items that are not in Hommlet? Have found that the oriental guy in Nulb that sells all the monk weapons offers high $$ for metal armor and weapons; but haven't found a place to sell my leather armors or any wooden items for decent prices. And so far can't recall seeing a jeweler in Verbobonc where I ca sell my gems and stuff too at good prices. Wondering if there are other NPC out there that offer good prices for gear outside of Hommlet (which due to a game bug/corrupted gamesave I can't get into Hommlet anymore)? It sucks that a 'sell all' button can't be engineered like the 'take all' that you get to use when looting a corpse. Would just need to move any unequipped items onto one of the characters and have 1 person just keep grabbing stuff out of the chest and then clicking the sell all instead of the painful drag and drop every single one....
Jeff Vogel did something like that in his latest game, Avadon - you had a 'loot bag', whose contens you could insta-sell with one button. Very neat. Differences with ToEE are: lack of carry weight restrictions, and lack of price variations.
The bank manager in Verbobonc also doubles as a jeweller, so you get the best prices for selling gems & jewellery to either him or the jeweller in Hommlet. I believe that you won't get as good prices for selling leather items or wooden items to a vendor outside Hommlet. Such is life. By the end of the game, you end up with more money than you can spend anyway, so it's no big loss.
