Being a bit crotchety (amongst other things) in the real world I have always played a dwarf. It fits my real world character style to a T, and other than being a little tall for a dwarf (perhaps a dwarf with a growth hormone problem?), I would really fit into the fantasy world as a dwarf.

Now here would be my party of characters to play ToEE. I would be the Ranger.
    1. Dwarven Fighter
    2. Dwarven Fighter (or Ranger)
    3. Dwarven Cleric
    4. Dwarven Rogue
    5. Dwarven Wizard (if game engine permits)
    6. Dwarven Doodad (if game engine permits)

And hopefully the game engine permits my odd choices. The wizard and the druid could offer some interesting game dialogue as to how they came to exist. If not make it something along the line of the first four being best friends with an elven wizard and druid. The stretch from a Dwarven Ranger to a Dwarven Druid is not too far.

How about a module with a game dialogue to match a dwarven party (I do love them sooo much!) cleaning out a kobold infested cavern system who are really ruled by an evil wizard / rogue with an illusion spell to make him look like an extremely large kobold? The little nasties think he is their god come to life.

Develop it even further to the point where the Evil Wizard / Rogue, Vestibal, is part of a triumvirate trying to take over the country side. After cleaning out the cavern system containing somewhere around a hundred of the little buggers, you hear a rumor of a Council of the All-Seeing Eye.

This leads you back to the village that hired you to protect them. In the inn you find, eventually, that the new witch-woman of the village is actually a hag who secretly represents the triumvirate. She disappears in a puff of smoke. Searching her house you find a missive stating that she was also working with a group of orcs (the next higher up the chain of command) that is planning an attack on a caravan soon leaving some town from the World of Greyhawk. Amongst the caravan goods is a mystical weapon, such as a +1 Shortsword with some minor ability once per day.

Protecting the caravan leads to the cavern system with an accompanying orcish village on the surface, or perhaps an abandoned keep, to save the caravan's more influential members.

This is reminiscent of one of the campaigns I ran back in '82 or '83 while cutting dough-nuts in Indian Ocean. It ended up being a coven of hags who were working in cohorts with a wizard capable of mayhem extraordinaire. Unfortunately all my material was lifted by a rogue who crossed from the phantasmal world into the real world—at least I still have my memories.

While I must admit 'tis a pipe dream—the coding beyond my temperment—I would love to see a module along these lines. If nothing else once I get ToEE run through I think I will create just such a party for the heck of it. As a matter of fact I'm going to start a bogus game now to see if the game engine permits a dwarven wizard.

I just answered my own question about a dwarven wizard. Go figure, I still have stuck in my head the 1980s books.;) I am definitely going to make me a dwarf centric party. I will have to throw in a human and an elf to mix things up—I think I will save that one for playing Keep on the Borderland.

All-dwarf parties rock. You'll have to craft your own magical waraxes, but you'd have to craft all the cool stuff on yourself anyways...

    Dwarven Ranger? LOL.

Wizard could work, I guess... Could swap him for a gnome, could be better.

How bout a Dwarven PALADIN? ;)

Now that is something I had not thought about! An extremely good suggestion and I will definitely try that one. I tried and you are able to create a Dwarven wizard so I will assume, since I am playing a Dwarven Ranger just now, that I can also create a Dwarven Doodad.

Who knows, I might even make myself an Elven party after that. My daughter would get a kick out of that one. I get the wife suckered in, and the three of us are going to try a modded Baldur's Gate over the household network.

    Addictive ain't it!

Well, no reason you wouldn't be able to make a Dwarven Wizard... TOEE isn't Arcanum, so dwarves aren't allergic to magic

Dwarven Rangers and Druids can be made too, but personally this sounds a bit odd.

I think that a Dwarven Ranger is surprisingly a great build for gameplay, maybe not role playing. Mine is a great giant slayer. Max out favored enemy on giants, plus his racial bonuses to AC when fighting giants. Plus, I made mine an archer, which was cool to see the little guy pull back the longbow, it was as big as he is. He gets an animal companion to fight out in front while he fires over the top. He can cast longstrider at 4th level giving him greater speed. Plus can cast cat's grace at 8th level to boost DEX and improve accuracy.

    Dwarven Rangers, I'm a fan.

Dwarven Ranger was one of my earliest builds. I prefer elf though.

Odd, agreeably so! But fun nonetheless. And as for Torrato's suggestion I don't go that far but it is interesting in the way he plays it. I do go for the giant killer (knock 'em down to size!) but much more enjoy the double weapon wielding. I especially like how the developers handled the critial hits and cleaves with the dancing and what not.

Makes me kind of ponder the visage of a dwarf doing the hokey-pokey with an elf. Now what a pairing, and an interesting story line, that would be.

Fey Tree Hugger. The only good giant is the one that grinds my meal. Preferrably not from me. :tombstone

Nah, it's just that I hate using my own party members for meat shields... Enemies make best meat shields, and require no maintenance!

I bow to your greatness, and sneakiness too. A bigger hammer gets the job done no matter who wields it.

My problem is I get kinda attached to my ex-enemy meat shields. They often do a valient job, if not a good one.

If you get attached to them, marry them! ;) Or recast Charm after rest <__< Unless you plan to travel somewhere far away and you don't have teleport, you can make em into permanent pets.
