So I have been playing the 5.8.1 NC modpack and I saw there's the 5.9 version and I downloaded it.

Now I haven't completed the game yet and I'm curious if it's possible to just update the module to 5.9? And will it cause any problems or will it just be fine if I drag the 5.9 data into my TOEE folder and use the front end thingy?

There is actually a 5.9.1 patch out and it would be best to use it. However, there may be a 5.9.2 patch coming out soon so it might be good to wait if you can or just continue with your 5.8.1 game.

You can simply unpack the patch you have into your TOEE game folder and it will not write over what you are playing with now. In fact you need to do that to get the patch in place. Once you have and you start up the TOEE Front-End X, you will see both the 5.8.1 version and the 5.9.X version. You will have to select the 5.9.X version and click Activate to make it the one you play.

NOTE: if you select a different version and activate it, you will lose all of your saved games and players and any custom things you have done on your own. You can back up your saves using the TOEE Front-End X if you think you will go back to them someday.

    Say that again?

So I have the 5.8.1 NC Beta one and I see that there's one for 5.9 and 5.9 NC.

My apologies for earlier confusion was kinda guessing what the number was.

Anyways I want to know how do I turn my 5.8.1 NC into the 5.9 NC?

    =========

EDIT: Btw what is the difference before the NC and the Non NC?

NC is for NEW content and Non NC is no new content-so the game is pretty much Vanilla with the slight improvements the CO* modders have created.

Best as I know, there is no way to convert your old 8.81 to the 5.9 NC. You have to start a brand new game with new characters. Download the new 5.9 or better yet 5.91 NC and then activate the module if the Front end.

So there's no way to keep your saved game and characters and continue on in with the new stuff? That kinda sucks.

I assume that goes with both NC and Non-NC modules?

Continuing a save from a previous game version on a new game version will cause horrible bugs and will kill your gaming experience.

Yes that goes for all versions supported by Co8.

Oh well; guess I'll just play on this version and forget about the new stuff.

I guess it'll be awhile till you people can somehow make it updatable or it might be impossible :(

When you update to a newer mod, say 5.9.1, the other previous mods remain in TFE-X. It's just a matter of which mod you want to activate and play.
5.9.1.NC is great. Highly recommend it.

Yah but atm I've completely pretty much everything outside of the ToEE so I don't want to have to do everything all over again.

Oh well guess I'll just stick to this version I have and beat the game and then do it again later with the next patch.
