I stumbled upon this video while downloading mods for Arcanum and just had to share it.
This is actual in game footage of the last game Troika was hoping to make, but the money grubbers didn't let them.

This saddens me. This demo looks better than any other game that has come out in the last 10 years, including starcraft 2. It's got the ToEE mechanics going for it looks like. It is my firm opinion that the Troika executives should be hunted down and punished for their crime of doing harm to the gaming community. Screw squillions of people over because they wouldn't make as much money as Blizzard. Granted, the single player community is significantly smaller than the MMORPG fanatics, but there was still money to be made. Perhaps they could have been a pacesetter by removing 95% of executive salaries and putting that money towards the manufacture of the game. We'll never know now. I hope they are judged harshly by the gaming gods.

Did you watch long enough to see the first person view?

Man, we missed out on this one. :(

IIRC, Troika didn't fold because their profit margin was too small, but because they went bankrupt. And they weren't a 50 story office building full of suits, but a handful of programmers (maybe a dozen) who all worked on their games. They probably should have had a suit or two to manage things better.

Troika was always very good to Co8, and a coulple of them in particular have remained ver helpful since their dissolution, so we should all be thankful to them.

That video is the Tech-Demo for an post-apocalyptic game they were going to make. Really would've liked to have seen those guys take another stab at that genre, as they were the driving force behind Fallout. No companies wanted to bankroll a turn-based post-apoc CRPG, so RIP Troika. Shameful...

I hope someone still has the source code for it because as soon as I win the lottery, I'll be looking for talented individuals to complete it.

I just can't believe a company would put out a game like warhammer 40,000: space hulk and not this.

Yeah, I still think the video shows a nicely done tile and a before their time sudo 3D world.

When it goes to first person you can see just how close they came.

I shall forever feel robbed of this game.

BTW, I never meant anything bad towards Troika when posting this ... exactly the opposite was my intention. ;)

Heck, I'm playing Arcanum for the umpteenth time.

I agree. If you start to make something that good, you HAVE to finish! ;)

Whats shameful is the fact no publisher would back Troika financially.
