This I did not expect. This is awesome news! I so freaking hope that there's going to be an ending with a temple to Demogorgon and his cultists or some such thing. And because Demogorgon is involved with this in some way, it suggests that Orcus, coolest, and in my humble opinion, baddest and toughest of all demon lords, is around because he and Demogorgon are constantly at war with one another and hate each other to pieces. At the very least, some demons that serve either demon lord.
 Errr? You may need to check your map of Greyhawk: when the guys from the Great Kingdom say they are recruiting allies against Demogorgon, they are just talking local politics. They're from the other side of the planet. More to the point, we have no models for Demogorgon, Jubilex, Orcus etc. Pity. We could probably do Kurtelmak (sp?), but why would we? BUT there is mnore of the Great Kingdom plot written, and it will involve a very cool encounter. I think. Its all Greek to me
This is a shame. I was gearing up for some good old fashioned 1st edition demon lords and their intrigues. There isn't a computer game that's been made yet that has any of those cool guys in it. I mean really in it, not just mentioned in plots or whatever. I want to see some models and skins and textures and voices and everything else, perhaps Orcus commanding his undead army from his throne of skulls and sending them through a permanent gate to the prime material plane. Oh yeah, that's the good stuff! *fap, fap, fap*
BG II Throne of Bhaal gave you a chance to face off against Demogorgon, and NWN Hordes of the Underdark featured Mephistopheles (granted he's an Arch-Devil, not a Demon Lord.) Both were pretty bad-ass (though by the time I fought Meph, I was so bad-ass myself it was almost a foregone conclusion I would beat him.)
We'd do it if we could. I asked Cuchulainn if he could morph the many-armed Glabezru model into a passing Hextor, but that was a bit pie-in-the-sky. But I'd throw in Orcus in a heartbeat if we had a model.
Today while out about the town, I went into a new gaming store. They had a bunch of 4th edition ad&d material there. I was casually perusing it and I came across a series of 3 modules, linked to be a campaign. The 3rd module is for character levels 27-43. Yes, 27 - 43. There was a picture of a party fighting Orcus on the cover. If there's a module with characters fighting Orcus, Demogorgon is probably in there somewhere along the way. Against my better judgment, I think I may go back tomorrow and buy all three and read them. I have the Throne Of Bloodstone that is for 100th level characters and that is a good read.
Well that is very interesting. However, I sure wish you gave a little more info. DO you know the company that published this high level module? What was the title of the module? Any chance a direct link to the site online? I sure would like to know more about this. Thanks
I didn't notice the names of them. The company that makes all official d&d stuff is The Wizards Of The Coast, since they stole it from Gary Gygax many years ago. Or maybe they just descended on it after he was dead. Not sure. It's a small boardgame/tabletop store that's privately owned. No franchises. They don't have a website, but you can come to Duluth, Minnesota and I will personally escort you to the store. It's at the Kenwood Shopping Center, in between Papa Murphys and the kenwood liquor store. We can get a pizza to take home and cook as well as a couple of 1.75s of Bacardi. I have plenty of pop at home to mix with it. My best advice would be to search E-Bay 4th edition modules. That should bring up about 3,500 pages of their newest modules. *edit* I actually found it fairly quickly. I was slightly wrong. It's only for levels 27 - 30 and not 27 - 43. My life is enhanced in every aspect by the number 13 and I must have subconsciously just added it to the maximum level, fulfilling my penchant for extremes. Here is the link... http://cgi.ebay.com/PRINCE-UNDEATH-...tem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4a9b97e8de I love how E-Bay shows the picture of the item and has a link at the bottom of it to enlarge it but when you enlarge it, the picture remains the same size and just the white window gets bigger. :shame:
I think Wizards bought TSR -- the company that originally owned D&D -- long after TSR had basically kicked out Gary (who died not long ago). Gygax had a falling out with one of the other honchos in TSR, I believe. Of course, Wizards originally made a fortune from Magic the Gathering. Then Hasbro acquired Wizards, and D&D along with it.
Gygax left TSR in 1985 after battling with his (inept) business partners who sold off their shares to another person. That person then ran TSR into the ground over the next 10 years. Wizards of the Coast was flush with cash from Magic and bought TSR in the late 90's. They then drove the effrot to develop the 3rd and later editions of D&D. WOTC was aquired by Hasbro at some point. Look up Gary Gygax on Wikipedia and you can find links to the whole story.
