Well this isn't just about ToEE, but about anything that i run at 1024x768 res.
I Tried running it at 1440x900res and while it works it runs kinda slow and i want to switch down to 1024x768 or something close to that. (whats the 1024 widescreen res?)
I Figured i would ask here since you guys seems so knowledgeable and helpful.

My problem is that when i run a game or program that makes it switch to 1024x768 (and sometimes other resolutions have slightly similar issues) the screen is about 2 inches to the left and just slightly too high so it cuts off a decent chunk of the side and enough of the top to be an annoyance.
I am running a 6150le GeForce card (my main card died on me awhile back so i am using the on-board one currently, and yes this has been going on for a long time) 2gb Ram, Vista32.

I Don't want to change the settings on my monitor itself since if i change it at 1024x768 it will screw up my 1440x900 alignment which is my Native resolution.
I Have updated to the latest drivers and such with no improvement at all with this problem.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

You might try forcing a resolution of 1024 x 640 via the widescreen monitor method, same as you did 1440 x 900. (That matches your screen's 16:10 aspect ratio.) Otherwise your card should adjust the display to match your widescreen res no matter what size you choose (although this results in poorer image quality via stretching). Check your card's properties to see if there is a setting that is maybe unchecked for this.

Tried that resolution, but the game just crashed after it gets past the opening company logos videos.
I Have checked all of the settings that i can find to no avail.
Normally my monitor does auto-stretch to fit, and it does for 1024x768 as well.
Problem is even though it's stretched that it is so far off-center.

    Hi, a couple of suggestions that you might like to check;

    1. Can you use the resolution/refresh rate that you want in the game as your Windows display resolution? If you can, then make sure that Windows is displayed correctly/centered,etc.. You maybe able to change display centering either through software or through buttons on the monitor? Also, "Change flat panel scaling" options may make a difference if you have a Nvidia graphics card. ATI may do something similar as well, just look in your display driver control panel.

    2. Ok, once you have confirmed that, we need to look at the game. Make sure that the resolution AND refresh rate that you have proven works correctly in Windows is what you have selected to use in the game. By all rights it should work fine, unless the game just will not display in that resolution through the games design. Again, I stress refresh rate is also important in regards to resolution.

    3. I have a Nvidia graphics card at the moment and before running TOEE I need to close down D3Doverider. A tool that comes with RivaTuner. You may need to close that as well if you use that software? Other software that might cause problems with TOEE are refresh rate overider/locker softwares.

I hope that helps in some way?
    Cheers.

I Can use it as the windows Res, but i am about 80% sure it's also off-center, but the problem is that all of my icons on my desktop are sorted in a specific way and if i reduce the res it will completely screw them up so i am very reluctant to do that.
I Can move the screen around using the monitor buttons, but i assume it will make my desktop off-center when i close out the game.
Inside the NVIDIA Control Panel i cannot find anything about "Choose flat panel scaling" or anything resembling that.

I Have tried different refresh rates for the games and they make no difference.
This happens only on some resolutions, most notably being 1024x768 since it's used so often in older games that i play.
Also this isn't JUST for ToEE, it happens for anything i open in full-screen at 1024x768 including certain full-screen programs as well.
Although i can keep it Windowed at 1024x768 and it works fine since i can move the window around if that matters at all. Problem is that something like ToEE or other games don't do so well for me in Windowed mode so i hate to use it. (Not even sure if you can play ToEE in Windowed)

I Don't have any of those other programs or processes running. (Unless it came with the drivers i have nothing that alters or overclocks anything about my pathetic little video card)

I appreciate the help so far though, even though it was kinda all shot down in a blaze of glory. lol (yay for BonJovi!)
Hope you have some other ideas though.
I Don't really want to have to post this in some pretentious forum that just talks down to everyone.

    :Crazy_Lio <-- That's just cool! :aaaa:

Hmm, Ok well that has got me stumped that when viewing Windows Desktop your screen is centered and then some resolution/refresh rate in games puts it off center.

Are you able to get an OSD (onscreen display) menu on the monitor to show you current resolution and vertical refresh rate while in the game and also while viewing Windows Desktop to compare and make sure they are absolutely the same? Even, 1hz difference will knock it out.

Also, here is a screenshot of the 'change flat panel scaling' option in Nvidia drivers control panel. I am not sure why you would not have this option as you must be using an LCD right?

    Cheers.

I have read that the 16:10 resolutions 1024 x 640 and 1152 x 720 may not be recognized by some resolution standards as they are classified 'unnamed'.

Maybe try 16:10 resolution 1280 × 800 which is WXGA.

    Also, what maximum refresh rates does your monitor support for;
    1024 x 768
    1440 x 900
    1024 x 640
    1152 x 720
    1280 × 800

You can find this out by looking at the refresh rate options available in the Nvidia drivers Control Panel 'Change Resolution' screen.

    Does this help?
    Cheers.

OK well first off mine does not have that option and yes i am using an LCD.
    Dell WFP 19"

Now for the part that makes me look like the dumbass that i am!

While messing around with the settings on the monitor... "HEY! My monitor has an auto-adjust button on it!" *loads a 1024x768 game*hits said button* "OMG! It has helped a little..." *Hit button 2 more times* "Well i'm glad it's fixed now, but i have to admit to being an ignorant scrub to the co8 forums now." *sadface* :tears:

That being said, thanks to you i fiddled with the options and got it working great now.
Thank you for making me do something i should have done to begin with! :eek:mg::google:

Cool, nice to hear your problems are solved. Most monitors should be able to save custom setting changes for resolutions that are not 'standard' now-a-days as well.

    May I suggest you try this resolution;
    16:10 resolution 1280 × 800 which is WXGA.

See if it looks better or runs faster/slower etc..

    [Edit]
Also, how is your monitor connected to PC, is it using VGA port or DVI port?
Maybe if you are not using DVI port you will not see the 'change flat panel scaling' option.
If you are using VGA port and are able to use DVI or HDMI instead I suggest you do so.
VGA will not give you as clear/crisp/fine display.

    Cheers. :coffee:

I Will try that res out, thanks.
I Am currently stuck on VGA because as i said my old video card died so i am using the on-board 6150le and it doesn't have a digital port sadly.
Before my old one died i used Digital and believe me, i can tell a HUGE difference when i went back to VGA.
