Is Globe of golden death bugged?

Hey guys, sorry to bother you with another question but it would help me a lot in my sneaky strategy. I am trying to get Darley to join me as the Alu-demon, but my sense motive skill would need to be highier than her bluff skill right? [she has 12 if I remember correctly]
Sadly my character doesn't have a high sense motive so I though that a good way to go around this would be to use the Globe of golden death's basic spell - discern lies which boosts your sense motive skill to 30. Sadly this doesnt seem to work [even with the identified Globe]. Am I missing something here / understand wrong? or is it just one of many bugs?

Ps. this is based on my polish version of vanilla Toee, so there may be some bugs or mis-translations.

 

did you actually CAST the spell discern lies on yourself?
you use items like the orb via the radial menu. right click and find the items, find the name of the orb, select discern lies, and select a target.

 

Yes I did cast it on myself, but for some reason my skill lvl of sense motive hasn't changed and the speach option with Darley hasn't appeared [to make her turn into Alu-demon]

Any ideas?

you are welcome...

maybe the spell isn't working properly, I don't recall ever using it.

spells that alter your skill checks SHOULD show up in your skill... that is, open your character sheet, look at your skills tab, and click on the skill to open a detailed menu of what affects it. It should show bonuses from spells there and show a boosted score.
if it isn't then something is wrong there.

 

AFAIK, detect lies doesn't work properly. At least, I've never been able to use it successfully.

 

I finally got my hands on the english version of the game [voice acting is so much better]
but sadly it still doesnt work even with both english patches. [same resaults, sense motive skill doesnt raise and no extra dialog option with Darley] Useless skull :/ you are nothing more than a fancy ashtray.

 

Oh I would so use the orb as an ashtray. Or perhaps give it to one of the younger village kids to play with.

 

Or you could use it when you go bowling

 

As a side point; Why do the gems loose their ability to transport you to the respective nodes when touched?

there is also a bug where the "summon earth elemental" goes from 1/week to "infinite amount of times" when placed in the skull.

 

Is there any way to fix the sense motive spell of the skull by editing game files in some way?
[Like change some numbers so that it at least gives +10 or something]

 

Since "sense motive" adds your wisdom modifier, you could improve your skill rating by casting Owl's Wisdom or crafting an Amulet of Wisdom +6 or incandescent blue ioun stone.

 

sense motive doesn't add to your wisdom score. The spell is DETECT LIES... not epic wisdom...

it gives +30 to sense motive SKILL, but your overall wisdom is unchanged (wisdom affects your willpower as well... +30 to willpower is insanely good).

Those suggestions you made will help make the check, but the spell is still broken.

 

Uh, yeah, I was just making suggestions on how to pass the check. "Sense motive" in this context refers to the skill, which adds the character's wisdom modifier to its total.
