Holy monkey. I think I'd refuse to leave my house in a storm like that. Calling into work and all that.

But ya, drinks of drunkenness are more like drinks of hyper buzziness for me. I haven't actually had enough alcohol to make me drunk in years (back in those teenage years when we're all kinda dumb). Now I just like to have a couple screwdrivers to give me a hyper kick (yes, orange juice and vodka makes me hyper) that makes the night that much more fun.

Anyway, hope the storms pass quickly and harmlessly, Scryler.

Clear skies today and quite warm. But more rain
coming up. Neighboring county had a tornado
out of that last storm. Cross my fingers that one
never comes close to my place. I'd like to see
one, power always mesmerizes me, particularly
mother nature when she feels uppity, but I'd
not want it to come close. No, no, no.

But spring is on the wing...I can feel it. The
Great Wheel turns. (Creaking sometimes.)

Icky. Tornadoes = icky icky. Unless they're tiny ones that just rip shingles off of roofs, cuz then they actually have to hit your house dead on in order to do anything other than possibly crack windows, in which case they're only a little icky, unless you're unfortunate enough for them to do so.

I've always wanted to see a tornado in real life, too, but not close. I've seen plenty of videos online of mother nature pmsing and it is quite mesmerizing. If you ever get the chance, look up videos of downbursts.

For those of you who don't know, a downburst is when a pocket of hot air gets stuck under a pocket of cold air in the atmosphere, and the cold air builds up and builds up, then eventually manages to split the hot air and punch downward, hitting the ground at about 150+ mph. The result is a sudden impact of air straight downward that becomes a sort of cyclone, but the cyclone is in the shape of a circle, rotating inward. The initial winds are powerful enough to slice right through trees, buildings, etc like a knife through butter, the rest of the winds are like having a half-mile-wide tornado sitting in place.

 

One rainy, windy afternoon, I walked 100 yards from one building to another because I had a class to teach. So I couldn't wait.

Later, on the news, I found out it was a tornado about a half mile away to the east. I THOUGHT it was kinda windy...

Yeah, reminds me of a friend of mine going out into a storm to look for his wife while there was a tornado swirling about. They were living in Oklahoma at the time and they just had a fight and she stormed out of the house. About 5 minutes later, he turns on the news and hears about a tornado and goes out to look for her. Turns out she was in the shed out back because she didn't want to be outside with tornadoes and didn't want to go back inside with him, so she just went in there and left him to have no clue where she went or if she was okay. Wonderful wife. I'm normally not glad about divorces, but that one, in my opinion, was for the best.

Good day for me today.

Weather page says 80 degrees tomorrow, 60 at night.
But then it starts cooling off again.

With modern technology, the dividing line between
fantasy and reality is so thin, it might as well not
exist. The future is going to be interesting, indeed.

Reminds me of a scifi/fantasy book of some kind I
read (more than one, probably) where society had
regressed to the point where a tv screen on the
wall was regarded as a portal to the gods.

I think we are there.

Cooling off to normal winter weather in Florida...then
warmer again.

We had a tornado warning in the area but I slept through
it. I woke up briefly and realized it was really storming,
but didn't wake up enough to worry about it (good).

There were branches all over my yard this morning, though.

The moon is growing. I hope this time the full moon is a
good one for me. Comes full this Saturday.

Scryler, I have to commend you on the fact that you sound so much smarter than 99% of people who post on forums about their day.

It's nice to see someone actually using proper grammar and punctuation as well as spelling out everything in their posts even when they're just talking about their day.

 

I don't always use proper grammar. On purpose. But I can if I want to.

It was very dark out driving home from work tonight, even with the moon waxing toward full. There was a low lying mist...not fog...that cut off all the stars and the moon, too. Eerie.

Other than that, a long boring shift.

This has been one of the best days of my life,
if not the best.

I was offered an expansion to my job that I have
long wanted to do. It will be challenging and not
without an emotional price at times, but also has
rewards that make it well worth it. Immediate
results for a change, instead of planting seeds,
hoping they take, and never knowing if they do.

And I get to take on a long term gov adversary.
And while that will involve a lot of tact and
frustration, it will also be extremely gratifying.

There was more happening than that, but the
rest I can't talk about. Just try to control
the silly smile on my face, hihi. :love::love::love:

La,la what a day!

And I even managed to do some housework.

Congratulations! It sounds like you've gotten into a situation that you've been daydreaming about. I hope it goes well.

Don't let it wear you down. Changing the government usually happens only slowly and ponderously. The good thing is that once you get things straightened out, a lot of people benefit. Keeping a non-adversarial attitude can even convert a lot of the 'enemy' to your cause.

I finally caught a glimpse of the lake where I work.

The surrounding trees have lost enough leaves where
you can see blue water not far away. I didn't realize
we were that close. No wonder we have alligators
during mating season.

It was a busy day today and I am tired.
